Alternative to Noodles?

Recommended Posts

There are SO many wonderful alternatives to noodles! Zuchinni using a spiral slicer gives you spaghetti, zuchinni using a peeler gives you lasagna, chicken ground to a paste and piped out of a pastry bag into boiling Water gives you literal chicken noodles. :)

I use spaghetti squash a lot too!! There are tons of how to's online, but when I put sauce on it, I don't notice much difference!! The quinoa Pasta sounds good, but I'm still pretty lazy to think about making my own pasta! Hahahaha

That zucchini spiral slicer is awesome too. I found one on Amazon for a great price!! :)

Quinoa, bulgur wheat, whole wheat couscous, brown rice and whole meal Pasta are all great for us but in moderation. My dietitian recommends 1tbls at the most but to be eaten only after Protein and veg if I have room. On my programme which I understand we all seem to have different ones, is that now at week seven I can try them. To be honest though I have just not had room after trying to meet my protein requirements lol.

I just can't handle Pasta of any kind, i have too many digestive issues and autoimmune, so it's the faux-noodles made of veggies for me, but seriously, a quick blanche of the zuchinni spaghetti, covered in alfredo with shrimp, so delicious and just like noodles!

Has anyone tried miracle noodles (Shirataki) post op and if so, how long after surgery? I lost a good bit of weight pre op cooking them with veggies and chicken and they have 0 calories/carbs.

I've heard of the shiratakyi noodles. I think they're very similar to the Quest noodles in terms of the smelly Water in the package.

I think they may even be the same thing on the inside.

My hubby likes the Shirataki noodles, I do not! The texture when you bite into it is really weird. I've been eating zucchini noodles for years.... DELISH!

I love using zucchini in place of Pasta. Sometimes I just slice it, and slightly sauté. Then I put whatever sauce over. I like spaghetti squash too.

For the chicken noodles I think you whiz the chicken in a blender along with whatever spices you want and maybe some flax flour to make a paste, in a way you are sort of making free form boiled chicken sausage, just long and skinny threads!

I used to eat shiritaki noodles all the time when I was a vegetarian.

The texture takes some getting used to and you need to rinse them REALLY well and let them dry pretty well to help with the texture, but then they are fantastic and super low in calories.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
