I so need you in my corner to remind me if you make the decision live with it and make things better don't complain. I have had issues, but I have not even logged in to the forum for fear of whining----NOT a whiner. Love your post.

A little early for the combative stage (that usually hits 4 weeks post op)

This surgery is not a cure.. (Duh)

In fact it can be a major head game sometimes. As for bad choices? I guess you can call us all idiots because that's what got us here..

I cannot wax poetic like you, so I won't try. But falling off of the wagon eating a carb laden food is the beginning of the end for some.. It's really hard to know by just reading a post and forming an opinion about it.

Power. I felt I had none when it came to food. I am not an idiot, but no matter what the diet or the therapy my food consumption was beyond my control most days.

Control, I have a shaky grasp on it now.. My hands are tired and weak at the moment..

One taste, one bite.....taste, comfort, relaxing, friend. The hole is there, it is waiting to be filled. I am ( inset months) I am not cured the draw is strong.

I'm happy for those of you that have it all figured out though...

LV - it's not combative. It's an observation of what gets on my nerves. As for your personal issues, please see above where I wrote:

'if you're having serious addiction issues - then that's a WHOLE different ball game and there's not a person on the planet that won't do all they can (within the limits of this medium and geography) to help.'

With reference to: 'falling off of the wagon eating a carb laden food is the beginning of the end for some.. It's really hard to know by just reading a post and forming an opinion about it. '

It is easy to form an opinion when someone is whinging about one cracker and have form for attention-seeking whinging. If they said 'I have eaten a whole packet and keep going back for more', it changes the game.

I'm sorry you have a food addition. As I said above, it's no picnic and there's not a person out there that wouldn't help. But I think it is very evident when people are being self-indulgent. Self-indulgent in their eating and self-indulgent in their coveting of sympathy on this website.

As for 'having it all figured out'. As I said above: 'If you're clever enough to work out that these aren't good nutritional ratios, then you're smart enough to know that you shouldn't be eating it. ' If I recognise that is becoming tough for me to do - I'll be looking for psychotherapy. Not for platitudinal 'pats on the back' from unknowns...

LOL. OK Ms. Crankypants, thanks for saying what most of us think at times. Patience is a commodity often in short supply; sometimes I can read those kinds of posts and respond gently and kindly. Other times I need to roll my eyes so hard I fear they'll come loose, go flying across the floor, and the dog will eat them.

And I ate a few grape tomatoes last night because I couldn't eat another bite of shrimp, I'm a complete failure as always, the sun stopped shining (really, I'm in Seattle!), and locusts fell from the sky.

;-)

I'm sorry you have a food addition.

food "addition" I like that.. yes I guess on a bad day I add more and more food..

I guess we all have different reasons for having this surgery. I cannot tell what a persons motivation is when they post in distress sometimes.. I guess I'm not clever enough?

By the way you are my role model too...

I am day 18. I have had.. (wait for it)' date=' a cupcake, half a cheese burger, two vodka Water and apple-juices, 5 mini cocktail sausages, toast with ham and a very small slither of cake. Am i beating myself up over it? No. Should I have eaten these things? Probably not. Will the world stop revolving as I'm still under 700 calories a day? Definitely not. It's a cookie. I know you feel bad, but a little perspective is required here.... clamber back up on that wagon and keep pumpin' the Protein. You'll forget it all in about, ooh, say, 20 minutes...[/quote']

I'm assuming this is the thread that set you over the top??

Oh Laura, if you haven't figured it out then I have my doubts whether any of us will. You're one of the smartest people on here, IMHO.

Oh, LV. Sounds like you're having a bad day...

As for the 'I ate a cookie' post... I wouldn't say it sent me 'over the top'.. I don't believe this post is 'over-the-top'. It was the last in a string of posts that have made me groan. So i called it...

You know you are right...

bad day, bad weekend.

And it is all food. It's always food.

I am not a role model either.

I do not have it all figured out and I cannot pretend that I do.

Sorry people. Carry on :)

You're not whinging about it - that's the difference. You're having a crap time and you called it (I remember your post about your highly insensitive friend). You're not mealy mouthed. THAT is what does my head in.. Give me straight up any day of the week over whingey-whiney-self-indulgent-calls for faux sympathy over a chip....

Hold tight, LV x

I agree with you Madam Reverie. The, "I have lost 26lbs in a month and the scale has not moved in 2 weeks" posts are like nails on a chalkboard for me. I personally do not own a scale or plan on buying one. I will base my comfort on the way my clothes fit and my overall happiness. I cannot live my life weighing in every day. Misery does not love company in my house!

 peace out!

Must follow this thread if only for entertainment purposes lol. And by the way' date=' I had a baggie size serving of movie theatre popcorn this weekend and the earth stopped moving, there was chaos in the streets and I think I may have lost 10 hairs. This is exactly what I expected to happen though :)[/quote']

Lmao @10 hairs.....lol!!

This is why some of us require a break from the occasional idiocy ... I got tired of the complaints of the very normal and expected stalls. When someone has a 7+ week stall like me then go ahead and whine ...until then, suck it up!

;D

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
