First fill

Recommended Posts

As my first fill today. Wasn't to bad. I have a 14 band and had 5cc in. So they added 2cc more. Was pretty easy. Weird part of appointment is that when they were looking for port with needed they found a seroma, Fluid pocket that can happen when you have surgery like I did. They pulled about 10ccs of fluid out of my abdomen. What I thought was the port this whole time was the hard ball of fluid. Glad it didn't get infected. Overall a good appointment though.

Not to bad. Depends on how you do with needles. They don't bug me. Just small pinch. Really is easy.

I have my first fill Thursday 10-17. Had the Lap-Band AP placed 9-13 with no fill at the time of placement. My surgeon puts the port in the chest. Small incision under the arm. I can't feel it so I am not sure exactly where it is. His rational is that the chest cavity undergoes less amounts of movement/manipulation than the abdomen. Hope your post fill goes well.

The fills really don't hurt. I had my 3 or 4th the other day. I forgot which number. It was my first since February. My doctor goes slow with them. I have either 2.2 or 2.4 total. First he emptied the port to make sure his records and my port were the same and they were. Having a doctor on top of that stuff I feel is important too. I will say since Friday I am eating less food. That was why i wanted the fill. I don't see him again for 3 months this time.

You all will do great.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
