I am a self pay..the charge is 18,500 at the Cleveland Clinic. I'm I a complete fool. I am borrowing from my tiny 401k...and I was able to save 2k. I am a single mom that has always done it on my own. I keep telling myself ..instead of a new car I am getting my health back... I jusy need to know if this price is justified. I live a half hour from the clinic..

Well it was life changing for me too... Scary to go out of country but the care was excellent, the hospital was clean and comparable to the ones at home...$6500. Would you consider getting it done elsewhere? Regardless I think you will be happy with having it done. It's a miracle I swear lol

I could have booked less than a month from when I initially called but I was busy so it was about six weeks. I was scared too. Being away from home and my kids, in a strange country, Mexico of all

Places! ( no offense to anyone) but it was completely out of my comfort bubble. I don't travel much. I was quite judgmental and naive I guess. Envisioning the drug cartel and a run down hospital lol. I went to the OCC in TJ mx with dr Ariel Ortiz. They were all great, professional, compassionate ( I'm a cry baby so I cried from the minute I got there lol I just can't help it). But everyone was very sensitive to my insecurities. I felt safe and taken care of from the minute they picked me up from the airport. The motel was great too. I honestly can't say how great everyone was. The price here was $16000 too and I just couldn't do it. Not to mention that the drs there had more experience then the ones I had the option to go see here. So anyway do what you feel most comfortable with. For me it was the right choice... Here I am just about four months out down 35 PDs and feel great. No complications... Anyway good luck with what you decide. Feel free to ask any questions;)

Thanks BOS123, I just so on the fence about the money. I would love to just go to Mexico and save 10k that I don't have. I am sure I would cry non-stop too. I know I would not be able to get my mother to come with me. EVERYONE thinks about how unsafe it is, but boy would I love to SAVE that money!

18,500 is a fortune to me. but I keep telling myself that it is my health.

I had that set back a couple weeks ago... Today I go to the Risk Managment class for alcohol... and then I was able to get an appointment with the Psychologist on Thursday and I PRAY she clears me... ! !

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
