Twenty Dozen Plications

Recommended Posts

I have been trolling on this board for months, and because of your experiences I made my decision. My surgery date is Jan 12 2012, and I am on day 2 of pre-op diet. I have been contemplating WLS for years now, but my needle phobia stopped me from getting the Lapband. In Sept I was hypnotized to get over the phobia and then went to a seminar. That is when I heard about the Plication study and started to do research on it. Just like everyone else I have tried just about everything. I do CrossFit five times a week, but can’t seem to lose anything but the same 40 lbs I have gained and lost for the last 5 years. I am nervous but excited for this adventure.

Make sure you bring chewable gas-x. It can be a lifesaver for the first few days! It will take about 8-10 days and you will feel normal again! My surgery was ONE simple needle stick for sample blood work and IV. Easy breezy! Just go to your happy place and you'll do great! Let us know how you are doing.

Thanks for the tip Linda E! If you have anything else I would love to hear it. As of this morning I have lost the required 10 LBS pre-surgery, now I just have to keep it off until Thursday.

How are u doing chub?

I am doing great and back at work today which is 12 days from surgery. I do highly recommend getting Gas X (or generic brand since it was pulled off the shelves), as well as Pepcid or any other anti-heartburn medication. The prescriptions ran out last Thursday morning and at noon on Friday I was feeling nauseous and my stomach was having spasms. I called the doctor and they refilled all the meds and I felt better that night. I am still not hungry but am getting in 96oz of Water and 80 gms of Protein a day plus a liquid Multivitamin. Today I am down 5lbs since surgery date, and have my follow up appointment this afternoon.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
