So my surgery is October 16 2013! I'm so happy! But, this diet thing isn't going well. I honestly am trying to drink 5 Protein Shakes a day and only one meat and green mean but it's so hard! I get cranky and drained by 3 pm :/ Any advise???

What if you had your meat and green for lunch (assuming it is eaten now at dinner)?

I was thinking that. You see I'm 450 pounds and only 22 Im just so used to this life style it becomes very hard. I think I might try that. Thank you! :)

I'm not sure if you are under doctor's orders to follow the diet you described or whether you are just trying to do it before you officially have to, but...I saw my bariatric team today and was advised to taper the diet before my mandatory 10 days of liquid only. For example: I should begin to replace one meal a day with a Protein shake. As soon as I get an approval from my insurance company/surgery date I should replace two meals a day with a Protein Shake. Then, when I have to start the full liquid diet at 10 days pre-op, it won't be a shock to my system.

If you are all ready in the mandatory phase, I guess what I said won't be of much help to you, but it might help others. ;)

Another thing that has helped me is to have something to drink all the time. Mind you, I'm on an all-liquid diet (no meat or greens for me), but in between my shakes, I have tea or Water. At night I have a little broth, too. I haven't felt hungry yet (on day 6 of pre-op diet).

I also keep myself very busy. Believe it or not, I've actually almost forgotten a shake several times over the last week.

Hot tea kept me sane when I was on liquids (decaf). I kept it around to sip on almost all day. A variety of favors, plus it kept me warm :)

Agreed! Republic of Tea has some awesome Decaf flavors you can get. I still rely on tea every day to get my liquids in.

My personal favorite Decaf tea is Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice. It gets sweeter the longer it is steeped.

Me too, me too!!!!! When I was pre-op and the first 3-4 weeks post op I bet I drank 4 cups of hot tea a day during the 9 hours I was at work. I'd just sip my day away. Post op Water tasted funky to me so tea saved my butt.....and my monster pouch was appeased.

If you like Pho, go to a Vietnamese restaurant and ask for a gallon of the Pho broth, no noodles, beef or herbs and peppers. I works for me

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
