I am going on 6 weeks post op and I have been at the same weight for 2 weeks. I am really starting to get depressed an frustrated. I am not hungry but I am still making myself eat 3 meals a day and I really am not eating a lot. I cant stand any of the Protein Shakes that I have tried, an I have tried a lot. I have even been keeping track of everything that I eat on My Fitness Pal (averaging 500-600 cals a day and 30-40 grams Protein a day). I don't know what else to try to make the scale move :-(

Here is the secret to making the scale move!

1. Stop trying to make the scale move.

2.Take a deep breath and relax.

Stalls happen many many times, and you have to learn patience or you will go insane. Give your body a chance to catch up on everything you have done to it in the last 6 weeks.

During most stalls you will lose inches. So get ready to go shopping.

As for your protein intake. Try to find a place that will let you try the shakes. Also you might like egg whites. I don't taste them and it adds so much protein to your drinks. Make sure they are double pasteurized, and that you stir don't shake.

Increasing your Protein may get things moving again. My doctor says a minimum of 50g per day and ideally 80-100g for me at 5'6". Some times you have to eat more to lose more--it convinces your body you are not starving and it doesn't need to hoard pounds.

Try making your Protein shakes icy cold and serve in an insulated mug to increase palatability. Make your morning drink the night before and keep in the fridge to get it really cold.

Protein drinks made with savory flavors like chicken or beef broth are a great alternative to all the sweet flavors. powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury makes a good chicken Soup powder and a couple of cups a day will really boost your Protein levels. To make your own, add a scoop of unflavored protein to chicken or beef broth (temp must be below 140 or protein will clump).

I like the Carnation No-Sugar Breakfast Essentials mixed with milk in the morning. Be sure you get the blue boxed non-sugar variety. Their website lists stores that carry it--many stores only have the one with sugar. Again, much better if icy cold. Crank the fridge up a notch!

Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
