Sick.... And miserable

Recommended Posts

So I've been sick since Thursday! Pushing through it because I don't know what I can take.

Today the hubby got fed up with my symptoms and went to cvs and while on google looking to see what I can take he brought home a medicine with the A word in Tylenol and musinex.

Took it. But I'm freaking out on if I took to much how will I react etc. haven't taken any meds in over a year.

Anyone else sick? Anyone else have medicine issues? Should I have taken less of a dose. My hubby talked to pharmacist and she advised for me to see my doctor. Ugh! Sick & tired!

You should be fine... Just make sure you follow the dosing on the back I the package and ONLY use stuff with acetaminophen. I got the flu the week I had my bypass and was still sick a week after. My doc just had me but the liquid Tylenol cold and flu... I survived. Haha

According to multiple websites, Mucinex is not an NSAID and it does not contain aspirin or ibuprofen. One thing to note is that the standard form of Mucinex is time-release. Time-release meds are not normally recommended for RnYers because they pass so quickly from the pouch to the small intestine that they don't have enough time to release. They will likely be less effective than they would be for someone who has not had the surgery. I don't think you have anything to worry about as far as dosage goes as long as you took it according to directions. And of course, Tylenol seems to be the recommended pain reliever for RnY patients.

Feel better Jenn!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
