Hi everyone , I have just began my journal and will have to do a 6 month weight management as required by my insurance. I have had my first seminar as well as my first consultation . I am so excited, that I am on this path, I have a psy eval next month and i am looking forward to it because this will be another item I can check off of my todo list. I am hoping that my six month requirements flys by fast so that I may stay on track and have my surgery in the begining of Jan 2014. I am looking forward to learning and sharing ideas, thoughts, frustrations with everyone. I have selected Henry Ford Macomb in Clinton Twp as my desired place to began this new journal after attending a seminar held by Sally Green who is great by the way. I have not yet met anyone who has had the procedure done yet but I am hoping that I will soon.

Welcome! I am relatively new here as well. I have had my first appt with my surgeon, my psych eval last week and my second appt with my nutritionist is next week. After that appt the clinic will submit my info to my insurance co. Just keeping my toes crossed for good news.

This is a wonderful site with great info and really supportive folks, good luck!

Actually, I was shocked at how easy it was! I had gone through this about 6-7 years ago when i tried before to have the surgery and was denied because of a billing technicality. The psych eval was much more in depth that time. This was mostly a pleasant conversation. no real probing questions except he did touch on my emotional eating and how I'm working to get deal with issues in a more positive way.

I spent many years working in mental health and we chatted about that.

Hello there. I just wanted to tell you that some insurances require psych eval done within 90 days of the surgery. Mine was like that, I have BCBS.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
