No specific weight given. At a support group meeting, the Nut said that they don't focus on specific weight goals, but rather quality of life goals like less meds, co-morbidities, etc.

Pretty bummed right now. I've had a very itchy rash all over my body for about 3 weeks. I've had two docs say it's prob from the Vitamins I'm taking for the surgery. Got a biopsy on it today and will get those results in a week. Have to stop all vitamins and call my surgeon tomorrow to tell them what's going on. I have a feeling this will delay my surgery. I'm very bummed right now :(

Hate to hear that! Do they think it's the brand of vitamins?

I share your feeling right now. Found out today my blood work came back positive for H. Pylori :(

Which means 2 weeks of aggressive antibiotics, then waiting 4 weeks to retest. Tomorrow I'll be doing a stool test to see if it's an active infection or an old one (any kind would show in blood). So I'm just praying it's not active and I can proceed with surgery. If not I'll be getting a November date :(

Cheryl_S asked abut good RNY books. I've read a few, but the most helpful for me is:

The Emotional First Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery, Second Edition

I have my pre-surgery Dr. appointment tomorrow and start my 2-week liquid diet Tuesday, 10/1. I've tried samples of a few Protein drinks and so far I don't like the Syntrax Nectar drinks. I do like the Unjury powder drinks, Healthwise fruit Drink powder in pineapple and Isopure Zero Carb ready to drink ones. If you like coconut, the Isopure RTD coconut is good. Not too sweet. A lot of the powder drinks are too sweet for my taste. I do better with fruit based drinks. What protein drinks have you tried and liked or hated?

kkelly37, you are so funny! I could hang with you! When I told my boss about my plans for surgery, she just told me I should do a diet and exercise program instead of having surgery. I really understand your feelings about being around other people and don't feel like you are worthy because of your weight! Its gonna change with this fat, are you pregnant, just diet and exercise GIRL!

I have only told one person at work. Not including my gastroentorologist. I don't want to listen to anyone's bullcrap about just diet and exercise.

I like all of the Bariatric Advantage flavors and also like the Unjury as well. I did purchase the Syntrax nectar flavor free to add additional protein to Soups and juices.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
