August 22nd!

We are one week away from our date!

We should all be on some sort of pre-op liquid plan, so let's hear how it's going from y'all.

I am on sugar-free/ low-fat liquids. I am still experimenting with different Protein powders, but I have pretty much settled on a brand. After surgery I plan on going organic and GMO-free. I figured that there is no excuse not to since I will eat so little.

Are y'all exercising? I have been off of exercise since about two weeks before my last surgery, which was three weeks ago. I really look forward to exercising again once I am able. I have a friend who used to be a trainer for the Baltimore Ravens; he was telling me that cardio is important, but strength training is more important. We will need to build/ maintain our muscles in order to keep our basal metabolism high.

Are you nervous? I am. Not because I think I will regret my decision, but because I can't wait for next year! I have been obese since I was 7. It's high time I looked as good as I feel. Dealing with the reason I am obese was hard. As a child it was a protection issue. I tried to make myself ugly. As a teen and young adult I struggled with depression, and I ate out of sheer desperation to feel something besides pain. Now that I can look back and see the pattern, it makes me know that I don't need food to be my best friend anymore. I know that I can go forward and use food as fuel and not comfort. I pray we all keep working on our food issues, because they never truly go away if we don't do the work. We don't want to be back here in the pre-op area in a few years.

I have already lost 20 lbs since surgery. I kind of got worried it was so quick.

I've lost 8 since surgery. 18 since starting preop liquids.

I didn't have either of those, but both are very common. In fact, many surgeons routinely remove the gallbladder during these procedures. This is because losing a large amount of weight can freak out your gallbladder.

On a different note, I wasn't logging well and today I really focused on documenting. Bad news, I only got 26 oz. so far. This is way short of my goal of 40. It's just so hard. I'm already sick of jello and pudding. I know, I never thought I would be sick of pudding but I am. All I can think about is cottage cheese, liver wurst, braunschweiger, pâtés, and the like. I am sick of sugar-free! I thought I would be vegan but the thought of that is a complete turn-off. I will still be organic, but it looks like veganism isn't in my near future. Maybe I will change my mind again, who knows how this strange journey will continue.

Wow! 20 lbs in the past 5 days or since the pre op diet? I lost 15 on the pre op diet and waiting to see what else on Thursday!

How is everyone doing this Wednesday!? I'm still struggling to get all my liquids in but doing pretty well with the protein shakes... pain is minimizing but I still can't sleep well. I have to take shots in my belly (blood thinner)even I'm getting used to those! Overall I'm improving, hope you all are doing well!

I'm sleeping better, but nowhere near good.

Oh I feel you on those heparin shots. I'm still bruised and I was off them Sunday.

I am progressing but I'm not getting my liquids in either. I'm sitting at 30 oz a day, far short of my goal.

I too am not getting all of my liquids in. :(. I am not sleeping well, and unless I take pain meds every 4 hours I can't stand the pain. I am hoping things get better Friday when this drainage tube comes out. I've never been a scale person so I don't even own one (and even after this surgery I have no desire to own one), so it will be interesting to see how much I've lost when I go to the Dr. Friday.

I'm having an issue getting all my liquids in too but I'm actually sleeping very well and today was my first day I didn't take pain meds and it wasn't too bad :) getting there!

Weigh-in Thursdays will be awesome. Don't be afraid to post a week with a gain or no loss! You may not have lost all of your surgery gain. My surgeon said that it takes some people longer than others to un-swell.

It's weigh in Thursday!

Weigh in time!

Start weight before pre op diet: 290.1

Surgery Day: 274.9

Today: 266.1

Total lost- 24.5 lbs! Yay! :)

Highest weight: 383

Pre-surgery weight: 359

Current weight: 361

I gained 18 after surgery and I am still very swollen, I fully expect to show a serious loss next week.

In not getting all the liquids or protein I'm trying. Remember ladies we are only a week out of surgery. Pre diet weight 259 surgery day weight 252 today weight 247.3.

Starting weight 230

Day of surgery after 3 day liquid diet 225

Today 211.5

We are all going to lose at different rates, depending on starting weight, age, etc. we got this! We are all going to rock it. :)

Oh, btw, I'm short! Lol 5.2

Great Job everybody! We're all gonna lose at different rates and everyone is losing which is awesome! Yay August 22nd!
