August 22nd!

We are one week away from our date!

We should all be on some sort of pre-op liquid plan, so let's hear how it's going from y'all.

I am on sugar-free/ low-fat liquids. I am still experimenting with different Protein powders, but I have pretty much settled on a brand. After surgery I plan on going organic and GMO-free. I figured that there is no excuse not to since I will eat so little.

Are y'all exercising? I have been off of exercise since about two weeks before my last surgery, which was three weeks ago. I really look forward to exercising again once I am able. I have a friend who used to be a trainer for the Baltimore Ravens; he was telling me that cardio is important, but strength training is more important. We will need to build/ maintain our muscles in order to keep our basal metabolism high.

Are you nervous? I am. Not because I think I will regret my decision, but because I can't wait for next year! I have been obese since I was 7. It's high time I looked as good as I feel. Dealing with the reason I am obese was hard. As a child it was a protection issue. I tried to make myself ugly. As a teen and young adult I struggled with depression, and I ate out of sheer desperation to feel something besides pain. Now that I can look back and see the pattern, it makes me know that I don't need food to be my best friend anymore. I know that I can go forward and use food as fuel and not comfort. I pray we all keep working on our food issues, because they never truly go away if we don't do the work. We don't want to be back here in the pre-op area in a few years.

Good job everyone! I have 2 week check up tomorrow with dr and dietitian. When are you all going back to work?

I am a homemaker, but I have seriously been slacking off since surgery. I am easing back into everything. Today I am headed to my nearest military base so I can arrange to have my household goods moved to our next station.

I had my two-week follow-up this Wednesday. My doc said I was doing awesome and that he wanted to see me again before I move.

Every day I honestly sit and am overwhelmed by how grateful I am. This surgery would be completely different if it weren't for you gals. It is so wonderful knowing I have a group that are exactly where I am, going through this with me. Thank you all for sticking with the forum!

Wow! 20 lbs in the past 5 days or since the pre op diet? I lost 15 on the pre op diet and waiting to see what else on Thursday!

20 lbs since surgery.

I went into work today to say hi and figure out when to start back and ill be going back on Tuesday! My boss is being really great about the whole thing so he said I can do part time or whatever I can handle til I work my way up. Excited to get back to work though, I've really missed everybody!

Ok. Here is an embarrassing question. Did you have a bm yet?

Ok. Here is an embarrassing question. Did you have a bm yet?

Not embarrassing at all. Yes, I had 3 the first week and 2 the second week. So far I haven't had any problems with that except the ones the first week hurt a little. This week has been fine except it is very little which is to be expected since I'm not eating much of anything.

Yikes. I had one

I need some feed back I just had my first bm and it was black and looked like tar not to mencken very uncomfortable is that normally the case any feed back would help thanks

I had watery diarrhea for the first week and it slowly progressed to firm stool. It turns out artificial sweeteners give me the screaming cheetah-willies so I now avoid them like the plague.

My first few were black and tar like. Then it turned green.

My first one was about 5 days or so after surgery and it was black too. The nurse at the hospital said to expect that.

I only had one. And it was similar to your description

Oh so that's what restriction is! O_O So for the first 2 weeks I didn't have a problem with anything. Could take my vitamins, drink water, protein shakes (the ones that didn't taste nasty to me), soft foods, etc. Nothing made me sick or feel bad. Until now. :(. First a little egg got stuck and I had to throw up. Then, taking this calcium pill that's the size of my head had me bent over the trash can in my kitchen. I'm going to get chewable calcium first thing in the morning!
