August 22nd!

We are one week away from our date!

We should all be on some sort of pre-op liquid plan, so let's hear how it's going from y'all.

I am on sugar-free/ low-fat liquids. I am still experimenting with different Protein powders, but I have pretty much settled on a brand. After surgery I plan on going organic and GMO-free. I figured that there is no excuse not to since I will eat so little.

Are y'all exercising? I have been off of exercise since about two weeks before my last surgery, which was three weeks ago. I really look forward to exercising again once I am able. I have a friend who used to be a trainer for the Baltimore Ravens; he was telling me that cardio is important, but strength training is more important. We will need to build/ maintain our muscles in order to keep our basal metabolism high.

Are you nervous? I am. Not because I think I will regret my decision, but because I can't wait for next year! I have been obese since I was 7. It's high time I looked as good as I feel. Dealing with the reason I am obese was hard. As a child it was a protection issue. I tried to make myself ugly. As a teen and young adult I struggled with depression, and I ate out of sheer desperation to feel something besides pain. Now that I can look back and see the pattern, it makes me know that I don't need food to be my best friend anymore. I know that I can go forward and use food as fuel and not comfort. I pray we all keep working on our food issues, because they never truly go away if we don't do the work. We don't want to be back here in the pre-op area in a few years.

My surgery is on Wednesday!!! I am so excited! I am on day two of my clear liquid diet and today has been a little rough. I got dizzy for a little bit but I refuse to not do this 100% I already have my bag packed with my toiletries! Good luck to everyone this week!!

I'm the 22nd as well! I'm on 3 protein shakes, half cup apple sauce, half cup jello, half cup pudding ( all sf and ff of course ) each once a day. I've lost 10.4 pounds since starting. 26 total since January! How are all of my fellow 22nd ppl doing? 3 DAYS!!!!!!!

Have any of you had dreams, nightmares rather, that you were pigging out with food you can't eat during preop? I've had a few, I wake up panicked!

Omg I thought that was just me! It's been like every other night since I started the diet, ill take a bite of like a cracker in my dream and wake up so upset and think that I cheated! So crazy!

The dreams are normal. I did a Water fast once for 27 days and had those same dreams. I would have to ask my husband if what I dreamt happened several times. It was crazy.

I didn't have any dreams but my husband has this Cincinnati Skyline Chili for lunch today and it smelled so good. I drank my shake and enjoyed the smell. I sticking to this liquid diet too, no matter how bad it tastes. It's better in a wine glass with ice?

Oh, and sitting on the deck while you drink it like a cocktail.

Which brand are you drinking?

The hospital supplied IMPACT Advanced Recovery. Its Vanilla. Its not very nice tasting. Only 5 more to go.

TOMORROW AT THIS TIME I'LL BE CLOSE TO BEING OUT OF SURGERY! Surgery is at 7:45. Have to be there at 5:45. Staying in a hotel tonight since the hospital is 2 hours away. Cannot wait to be on the loser's bench!!! Good luck everyone!

Last night I dreamt I had chocolate with hazelnuts at church in the town we are moving to. I'm not worried about this because the church I have chosen is an hour drive from the town we are moving to, so I know it is impossible. Furthermore, I made a Formula 1 race happen in town, with non-race car drivers driving alongside the race cars. I am chocking it up to nerves.

I woke up at 6:30 and have been finishing my preparations. I am making Jello, frozen pops, and getting the house ready and clean top to bottom. I have finished my packing list (my surgeon requires a three-night hospital stay) and am gathering everything I will need post-surgery.

Here's my packing list:

- Baby Wipes

- Face Cloths

- Lip Balm

- Shampoo

- Soap

- Lotion

- BB Cream

- Wedding Ring

- Flip Flops

- Dress

- Binder

- Bra

- Towel

- Toothbrush & Toothpaste

- Electronics And Chargers

- Afghan Or Shawl

- Ear Plugs

- Journal And Pen

- Medical Records

I just got the final call from my surgeons office that everything has been approved. They will call me later with check-in time for tomorrow. I think it has finally set in and I am starting to cry. I am happy and so nervous. I know this is the best thing for me -but now doubt is rushing in.

I have ROCKED my 3 day liquid diet though! So that gives me real hope and strength. I can't wait to talk to you all after we are on the losers bench!

Tomorrow!! Ahh!! :) just finished super cleaning my room! Spent hours in there but it's super clean! Just keeping myself distracted so I don't get nervous but I am so excited! Good luck everyone! Can't wait to hear how everyone does!

The hospital called me with my check-in time. 5:15! I live an hour away and will be dropping off my dog at the kennel so I have to leave at 4. Yay!

Also, I called the hospital and spoke with a nurse who let me know that the TWO bariatric rooms in the hospital don't have private showers. I have to go down the hall like in college. I don't think so. I did more calling and was told by the nurse manager for the hospital that all I have to do is ask for a non-bariatric room. I don't even need a bariatric room so that's FINE BY ME. I just can't believe that St. Joseph's, after MILLIONS in renovations, still has rooms without a private shower in them. ALSO, I am taking my shower chair from home because they DON'T HAVE THEM! Let me tell you, I was not able to hold my arms up and stand long enough for a shower two days after surgery.

I am packing my backpack now and cleaning like a crazy person. I've made enough Jello for a couple of days and I have tons of pudding, Protein, Water flavors and baby food. I'm so excited! This is freaking awesome!
