Trust me you have medication before you go into the operating room which they will give you through your IV. After that you probably won't care and probably will become sleepy and dose off and on. This is standard procedure. Once you go into the operating room and on the table you will be put to sleep almost immediately as the surgeon doesn't want to dilly dally around. You'll be just fine.

They gave me something to relax before they wheeled me into the surgery room. I then had to move onto the table (scooted over). The whole time they were making jokes about hair color. One commented that she liked mine (there was a piece sticking out of the cap). They were laughing about how when they go out together they dont recognize each other because they are so used to seeing each other in surgical caps. They next thing I remember is waking up in recovery. I honestly believe that having a cool team made the whole thing so much easier for me! Best wishes to you and dont be nervous. Before long you don't even remember the pain and as the weight comes off, you will start to feel great!

I had a funny experience during my Pre-op Endoscopy. I am a college professor and I teach Human Anatomy and Physiology (A&P) to students who are going into the Nursing Program. When they rolled me in for my Endoscopy one of the nurses on the team said I had been their A&P professor. Because I was doped up already and he was covered I said "Oh really I don't remember you". Afterwards I was somewhat horified I had spoken without censoring my comment and I have wondered ever since about the name of this former student. Of course I don't remember. My surgery is at this same local hospital so I am anticipating having some reunions with former students.

When I had an endoscopy before my gallbladder surgery I also was doped up. When I woke up, I said "im so glad you woke me up because I was dreaming I was having a bad day at work!" They all laughed because I work at the same hospital!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
