Hello Old Friends! :)

Recommended Posts

It feel like I haven't been here forever! My life has been very busy lately and it seems like I can't keep up with my old friends here at LBT! :) :cry

I hope everyone is doing better than me. I REALLY NEED ALL MY FRIENDS HERE TO GIVE ME A GOOD HARD KICK IN THE A$$!! I just can't get back on the losing side. I am staying about the same but I NEED to lose about 50 more lbs and I just can't get back on the band wagon. I don't exercise at all and I don't make good choices with my foods. I kick myself every night and cry about my terrible choices but does it help? NO!! Every morning I wake up and say "today is the day!" Then somewhere along the day I seem to forget my today was today and not tomorrow. Why is it so easy to say tomorrow?

Don't get me wrong I still LOVE my band and have no regrets. I have lost 120ish lbs. I have been stuck at 185lbs for about 6 months now. I know it's my own fault but I really want to lose more. I know I can do it.

ok get ready now.....

KICK ME!!!!!

Thanks for listening! :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2:

Congrats on the weight lost CG that is truly amazing.

I have thought long and hard about why folks stop losing for extended amounts of time after they have lost a significant amount of weight.

I think there is a time where we have to step back and "own" our new body for a while. Like the normal person would do (not the morbidly obese person) when they want to diet. So instead of thinking of yourself as a 300ish pound person who hasn't finished losing yet. You can now think of yourself as the 185ish pound person who needs to start a new journey.

I think after a bandster loses significant weight it takes time to wrap their minds around not being a truly morbidly obese person.

It seems that some folks then reach a *mind* plateau for a while before they are ready to tackle that last little bit that they really want to do.

So no get it in gear tips here but again a congratulations on your wonderful success and continued success.

Myra

YOU KNOW WHAT????????? You are a success!!!!!!!!! Maybe its because you are happy at the size you are right now.... at 185 you are most likely in 10-14's and happily going along lifes merrily way as a normal sized person.... a LONG, LONG, LONG way from the 300lb person you were at the beginning of your journey. I think whay Myra said is true... you need to start a NEW journey... the one that a normal sized person begins....

One where maybe a workout 2-3 times a week and maybe a better choice here and there.. and your Water may just be enough to kick you into the losing side again.... I can NOT wait til I'm in the 180's again.. I've got a closet full of size 12 levis just waiting for me!

Myra and Tracy, Thank you so much for your replys.

I think that I am going to look into going to a gym near my work. It's called Fit Chicks. Two of my friends go there and maybe thats what I need. I have a bike and a tredmill here at home but can't seem to use them much.

I am currently in a size 16. I wish it was a 12!!!!!!!!!!! I am VERY short only 5' with shoes on. :) But I have to remember that I use to be in a 26 pant and they where tight! :(

I WILL DO THIS!!!!

Again thank You!!

Hey coyotegirl! Good to see you back! I was gone from the boards for a while and now I'm back too!

I'm RIGHT where you on in this process. Lost 100lbs and feel better than ever but cannot get back on the wagon. It was SO easy at first and I had SUCH determination but it seems things have fallen by the wayside.

I liked what TracyinKS said about "starting a new journey". Going to think about that for a while.....

Hey there!! I remember you and all of us drift in and out at times, I think you are doing the right thing, I think I am fighting the urge to stall out, and one thing that is different for me is that when I was at my heaviest, I was always feeling so miserable, back pain, sore feet, no energy, no motivation, isolating, clothes were always biting me somewhere, especially BRAS!! and all I did everyday was think about food from five minutes to the next. Now I feel so free, Its hard to stay focused. So I have decided to buy tight and umcomfortable clothes. I wear tight bras, tight pants that I can cover with long shirts and when I sit down for very long, I feel miserable again and I cant wait for the evening when I can let loose again. This has helped me some, It sort of recreates the beginning of my journey. I hope it helps me stay focused beyond these 75 lbs, as I have 50 to go!! I also get rid of my comfy clothing as fast as I can so I cant go back that way again!

Do you remember why you became banded in the first place? Arent you a different person now, so to speak? Good to hear from you again. I have familly in AZ, and I remember camping near Pinetop,(I know you are in Pinedale) and hearing the coyotes cry, its such an awsome call. (and the crickets!)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
