Thank you for your replies!!! Did you guys did homework when you chose your doctor, what made you go to Dr. Graber. So far I am impressed with the fact that Dr. Graber looks like has it all done together, meaning I will have the seminar, consult, psychs eva and nutritionist eva all in the same day, and their staff are really nice when I've called. I like the idea of private rooms, but at this point what kinda "bothers" me is the time it takes to get in to see him, and then I am guessing it will take even longer for the actual procedure to take place. I have the seminar, ect schedule for late February, and when I asked the girl told me it would take around 3 months to get the surgery, I am just afraid I will get cold feet I guess. Although at this point based on what I've read I might not be a candidate because I am only 80 pounds over weight, and it seems the only comorbidities that are important are diabetes and or hypertension.... I don't have neither 8 (

Good luck with yours Juliannsmommy!!!!

Hi there!!

I have dr. Dalencourt who is a surgeon with dr. Graber. He has been very good to work with! I have researched him, and have found only good things. He is very personable and caring. Even took time out to come visit me during my nut appointment on my 2nd visit. I went to seminar and consult in dec 11, scheduled my surgery on dec 31, having it done feb 4. It all depends on your ins. Requirements. Mine, fortunately, had none.

Are you going to cuse or Utica? I'm going to utica...both are about the same distance from me though.

  • @ hmjdreamingbig - congrats! by now you must be in recovery mode from your surgery I hope all went well. Thank you so much for your reply. I am thinking of going to Syracuse. I went to the seminar with Dr. Simon, and I have a seminar schedule with Dr. Graber, but must say I am getting cold feet. I guess I will check and see how I feel with Dr. Graber, cause what I did like about them in their center is I would get all appointments done that day, I get to see him after the seminar, then the nutritionist, and the psychologist, but like I said getting cold feet  my weight is 205, and I kinda feel like I am just being lazy, although God knows I've tried to loose the weight and everytime I do I gain it back and then some! Wish you all the luck in the world and a speedy recovery!!!! :)

Hello!

I initially set up with Dr. Graber. It took me three months to get a seminar appointment and when I did, it was several months away. In the mean time, I checked out the staff at Upstate Bariatric. I got into the seminar quickly and had an initial consult with Dr. McDonald within a month. I love them. They are phenomenal. My surgery is March 11th and to be honest, they could not have prepared me any more. I am completely confident in the care I have received as well as the care that is to come.

Good luck in whatever decision you make. <3

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
