Right side pain with no gallbladder

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have suggestions... I am 8 weeks post op and have developed right side pain under my ribs. It feels like it did when I had to have my gallbladder removed but obviously I don't have a gallbladder. It's after hours and my surgeons office is closed on Fridays. I haven't been able to eat or drink much all day.

Idk if this helps or not but before surgery awhile back I had crazy pain in about the same area my gallbladder had been. I was kinda worried about that. Ended up so much discomfort I ended up crying in the ER. Ultrasound revealed I had a huge mass of gas. I ended up taking gas meds and walking. Didn't totally relieve it so at the end I had to do basically a bowel prep. Gas gone relief felt. Have followed up with gastro and this happens time to time. Do u use a lot of the sugar alcohol stuff? I do and the gas from it can get bad. Feel better soon!

Check with your Dr....lots of important stuff under there like your liver and pancreas. I had the same pain after my gallbladder surgery and I had an infection. Its probably nothing but better safe than sorry.

After I had my gallbladder removed 10 wks after RNY I still had "gallbladder attacks" I even went and had another ultrasound done and nothing was found. My doctor said that sometime the tiny little ducts may still have stones that need passing. Its been about 4 months since I have had any attacks. It seemed for me the attacks were for about 8 months after gallbladder surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
