I am hoping for surgery in September, but wanted to ask how much time off work is enough?

This depends a lot on the type of job you have, specifically how physical it is. I am a secretary for the assistant superintendent in a public school district. I took two full weeks off and went back half days on week three. I could have easily gone back half days the second week. By week three I was bored and looking for things to do!

It will also depend of your procedure and how you recover. I had a very easy recovery, laproscopic RNY, and only one night in the hospital.

I planned for the worst and hoped for the best. Worked for me, best of luck to you!

I work in the auto industry & was out 7/8 weeks due to fast pace & lifting requirements.

Depends on several things

1. your pain threshold

2. how quickly you heal

3. type of work.

4. your surgeon

I do I.T. work was out two weeks could have gone back in one. my pain level was 3 maybe 4 out of 10. Felt great after the pain meds ran out. Doc wanted me out a full 2 weeks. I told work 3 at a minimum.

Good Luck

Very nice!!! That is something I have never tried, but really want to. Like most Minnesotans I live within walking distance of a lake! I can even rent one at the local convenience store. Next free weekend, I might his be out there too!! Thanks for the inspiration!

Depending how far and how hard you row will dictate the level of the workout but it is very peaceful and melts away the stress built up during the week. i find having my mp3 player playing mozart or the grateful dead is the icing i

on the cake.....ummmmmm cake! let me know how it goes.

Have a great day slim :-)

had a scary night. Wasn't feeling well yesterday, headache, body ache, just over all blahness. Made sure I ate some dinner (albeit not a great one) and went to bed. Woke up at 2:30am with the shakes and cold sweats... stupid reactive hypoglycemia. Hubby got me some apple juice and then after about 20 mins I got up and ate a boiled egg and just slept the remainder of the night in the recliner. Got to remember to eat even when were are sick... :\ Hope i don't get sick much....

Feeling better now but my belly hurts, not sure if it's my muscles from exercising or my insides? a bit sore to the touch. I'll call the dr if it gets worse, but I have a check up on Wed with my pcp

Sore to the touch is NOT a good thing. maybe something is jammed up? Sounds gross but are you still regular? my Doc told me last week if i have ANY belly pain to call or go to the ER....

be careful

yeah that is what I'm worried about. My doctor is an hour away so I really don't want to make that trek if I don't have to. I forgot to add that I am quite regular so I don't think anything is backed up. But I've been quite gassy as well.

Sure hope you are feeling better! Stomach pain after WLS can be a sign of a lot of bad things. RJ is right, be very careful. If something feels off, get to the ER. Better to make the trek than to have something bad that you let go on too long. Hopefully you are feeling much better and enjoying you Sunday afternoon.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
