I am very nervous about gaining as I transition to maintenance. I was encouraged to stop my daily Protein Shake, increase my calories to between 900-1000, and keep my Protein between 60-80 grams per day. I have, for about the past six months, kept my calories between 650-800 and my protein between 80 - 90 grams a day. The changes are not dramatic, but I have fought so hard to get here, I don't want to go backwards! Today is day one. The scale will tell the tale!

You'll do great! Let me share a trick my dr shared with me. Pick a five pound range. Say it is 125 to 130. If you are up or down two lbs from your low end of your range consider it green meaning all good. If you are 3 to 4 lbs up or down that's yellow meaning somethings not right slow down and fivure out what changed. If you are 5 or more up or down that is a hard stop. Review your food journals and if you know you are off track make an appointment. It's a lot easier to lose 5 than 100 which we all know so catch it early. He also recommends weighing no more than twice a week because Water weight can fluctuate. It made perfect sense to me. I sure hope that helps. :)

Five to 10 more lbs and I'll be in maintenance with you!! I'm shooting for between 120 and 125 as my low. I am 130 now.

Stepped on the scale 6 times this morning to make sure it wasn't teasing me.

GREAT ADVICE! The scale has been up every day since I started the "maintenance" plan. However, yesterday was my Mom's 85th Birthday Party and I ate some things (like cake and ice cream) which I just don't eat anymore. I was back to 131 this morning after hitting 129 on Friday. Ideally I would like to stay under 130, so I am going to focus on doing the new plan, but making smarter choices. We are heading out on a short vacation over the 4th, which will involve some eating out. It is going to be a balancing act to keep my eating in control and yet still enjoy the weekend. Fortunately, I think we will be quite active, so the exercise will help!

I know that I also weigh myself too often according to most experts standards. I weigh twice a day - first thing in the morning, last thing before bed. I don't get really hung up on it though. It is my way of keeping things in check. If I were to go three or four days, I am afraid I would be at that 5 pounds up before I really caught myself. For me, I need that daily reality check. If (or when) I get to a point that I feel like my weight truly is stable, I may feel more comfortable about scaling that back a bit. For now, my day will start and end with the scale.

Thank you so much for posting the info! It really is helpful and I appreciate it SO much!

Carol

I haven't posted in awhile but I went for my year check up today (6/19/13 surgery date) as of today i lost 248 lbs. I rocked the clinic today. All my levels was good just take a little Vitamin D. They Doctor said it was all my effort and just very little of his, but i disagree he gave me a TOOL to use to build my body. I'm now there official Sleeve spokesman and will be speaking at there seminars starting in July. But what Im proud of is between riding a bicycle and walking I logged in over 220 miles for the month of May... June , just half of that due to high heat. But i get out and get moving, swimming, and evening walks. This is a lifetime commitment where there is no finish line when you hit your goal, i weigh now 226lbs and at the age of 55 life has just began.....

We celebrated my Mom's 85th Birthday over the weekend. dinner out, cake and ice cream back at the house. I enjoyed steak and the cake and ice cream. Weight on Monday was up to 132, and I was worried. At my appointment last week, I was given a new 'maintenance' plan that I really had concerns about, but I stuck with the plan Well, this morning the scale was back at 129! I am shocked that for the first time in my life my weight is where I want it and I am in control! Life could not be better!

Have an amazing 4th!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
