So Ian 4 weeks post op and I am not feeling full. I can easily eat 3 ounces of a Protein and some veggies without feeling full. It's scaring me that I'm eating to much and I'm messing things up but I don't feel full I don't get sick.

You need to measure and stick to the exact amounts your dietitian says. *just my opinion* Period. You don't have the same nerve endings in your stomach right now. So you won't feel full. I don't ever feel full....and I don't ever feel hungry. I religiously weigh. I use a scale I bought at Walmart. :) It will be a year or more before you've fully healed. Some don't have the sensation of fullness even after that.

I was told between 1/2 - 1 cup. But sure seems like i can get more in I guess I have to be more vigilant on weighing and measuring. But if I weigh out 3 oounces of Protein do I then have to measure it to see If its less then a cup??? I'm actually confused right now ugghhh

I had to google what the ounces were per cup for food. I get curious about a lot of stuff so i look it up. I don't know the numbers right off the top of my head. Weigh foods and measure liquids. I usually do 2oz of Protein and 1/4 cup of veggies and that's usually my meal.

I also struggle with this! I find I am able to eat 1/2 cup to 1 cup of food but not one hard boiled egg (completely) weird!!

I am trying to eat slow and measure if I still feel hungry I wait and will eat something again in a hour.

I never go over three...don't think I could. My nut is big on listening to the pouch but gives rough guidelines. I will measure as I get farther out I think.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
