Surgery Dates for July

Recommended Posts

I'm on day 5 of my pre-op diet. Surgery is July 16. I think I'm over the hump with the anger at being hungry and can't eat what I want. The job had a massive pizza and beer party yesterday. I got so disgusted that I couldnt eat, I went home early! Usually, I'm right there eating Giordano's Stuffed sausage/pepperoni pizza and throwing back beers. I'll never be able to do that again. While they were eating, I put my lunch in the microwave - a Healthy Choice frozen dinner!

I feel my life is changing already! I know it will be worth it - eventually, but oh, what a eating ride I have had over the years. I must admit, I've eaten some really good food *tear*.

if you can survive having to pass up Giordano's you can survive anything!!! Keep it up you are almost there.

Yes Good pizza is about the hardest thing to resist! Those pizza commercials with the thick crust and gooey thick cheese and pepperoni really push my buttons...

BowlingHooker mentioned years on a "food tear"- thats my whole life too. Grew up with cake and ice cream everyday because on the farm Dad and brothers needed the calories. I had free reign of the cupboards, encouraged to cook more un huge amounts. Everyday was an eating competition at our table. My brothers love buffets, and have a system to load their plate the fullest, by starting with a ring of mashed potatoes around the rim of the plate so they can pile more into the "bowl" they create. - its not a joke, they are serious about getting the value for their money.

Anyway, it sure is a hard cycle to break.

So I started my liquid diet today.

Never had a Protein Shake before in my life. Now mind you I just had mine with Water and shook it up. I nearly threw up trying to get 8 oz down. Needless to say I am def going to be adding in fruit and ice from now on. But I'm stuck at work all day and can't do anything but the bad shakes lol help!

So I've been comparing this process to waiting in line to try a new roller coaster. I have been in line for so long and now I can see everyone get on. I'm getting nervous and excited. Also uncertain if I will like this ride or if I can handle it. The liquid diet is starting today. I'm finally getting in my seat. I'm preparing for impact.

It's crazy it's finally here! I kept thinking the surgery was so far away and it's funny how it just creeps up on you.

This whole comparing to roller coasters is just making me more excited for when I can actually fit on one. Lol

Love the medifore and funny thing is riding a roller coaster is on my biucket list of things I want to do when I lose all the weight!!! Good luck on ur journey god bless

I have already planned to buy some of the Premier Protein shakes that are Pre-made to take to work with me. If you put them in the freezer for a little while they get almost to the consistency of a milk shake after you shake them up...it's the only was I can choke them down when I don't have a blender available. Good luck!

yeah my doctor is strictly making me do the Bariatric Advantage Meal Replacement powder.

So I've been getting by with Water and sugar free Jello so far today.

Reading is really helping me get my mind off being hungry. So far it's not too bad. I set up a schedule to do shakes at 9, 12, 3, and 6 so I get my four in a day. And water bottle wonderland here. Along with my jello and chicken broth. The good news is I'm doing it! 2 weeks till surgery!

Try adding some sugar free fat free pudding mix dry. Like a tablespoon. I add it when I'm sick of the regular tastes. Also it helps to thicken it. I like the white chocolate and butterscotch.

I received a call from my insurance today and they advised I had been turned down for surgery. They advised they had not received all of my paperwork from the surgery scheduler. I just started my two week diet and my nut told me to stay on it. The frustrating part is I have left two messages for the scheduler but I have not heard from her.

Have you heard fom your scheduler? How was day 2? Day3 was a little better

i went to the surgeon's office before my PCP appointment. While I was talking to the receptionist my phone rang and it was the scheduler. Everything the insurance needed was sent over yesterday. They advised they will call every day until they get confirmation on approval.

Day two of the diet is going well. My head hurts but i am not hungry at all which isweird i just had to force myself to have shake #2. One more to go.

How is your day going?

So glad that worked out. Day 3 was better. Headache goes away sometimes but then comes back. I'm not hungry either which is a new experience for me.

How are you shakes? And yeah I was surprised as to how much my hunger was all mental. I haven't eaten anything today, had only one shake today (going to get fruit and stuff to blend it with tonight) and been just drinking Water all day. Maybe tomorrow will be the test lol if I can stick with it lol

I am using a powder shake. It is not great but I don't have to gag it down so no complaints.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
