Starving and wondering how im gonna do this

Recommended Posts

You can do this. Just hang in there' date=' keep counting down the days til surgery and remember this is just like childbirth. There is an endpoint and what you get when you are done will be totally worth it. You can endure the suffering for a short period of time when the reward is a whole new life.

Please somebody remind me of this when I get to the all liquid diet pre-op phase. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Also keep in mind, research shows that people who lose weight before the surgery, recover faster with fewer complications and have better overall weight loss results.[/quote']

When is ur surgery???? I will remind u when u go liquid! The first few days are rough but u will adjust

Thanks! I tired a Unjury sample for lunch an I seem to tolerate it better. I at least didn't have to strong gagging feeling. I also read on there website that blend it with orange juice flavor crystal light and its like a smoothie. I'm think I wil buy it instead. I just hope it gets here soon I don't want to have to choke down the other for to many more days.

Thanks Janel123. My surgery is on June 28th. I go in for my pre-op stuff June 13th so I'm guessing that's when the liquid diet will start. My surgeon already told me that everyone (of his patients anyway) has do do at least some of the liquid diet before surgery to shrink their liver.

I'm allowed fruit and veggies only for the first few days too! Three days before its strict liquid only! I too didn't have to lose weight but I could not gain. And from what I was told they will weigh me at the hospital before surgery to make sure!!!! Good luck and keep us posted!!

Hi Janel129. My surgery is May 28th too, need to be in hospital at 8.30am and surgery is scheduled for 11.30am.

I'm from the UK and am on a pre-op diet too. Ours sounds different to yours though. We don't have the Protein Shakes you all seem to have. All I'm allowed a day is - 4 pints semi skimmed milk, at least 2 pints of low calorie squash, 1 sachet of sugar free jelly, 1 salty drink like bovril, oxo or marmite plus 3 sticks of sugar free chewing gum and that's it! The first few days were the hardest, had terrible headaches, nausea, tiredness but as time has gone on it does get easier. Good luck with your surgery. Bx

My time is 10:30am surgery!!!! Keep me posted with how ur doing!!! I wish I could have gum!!! I was told to take Chapstick as well bc ur lips with get chapped in the hospital!!!!! The Protein hasn't been agreeing with my stomach so I had to cut back for now! I'm hoping when they take my gallbladder that will fix the stomach aches I've been having!! I felt the same way though at first dizzy, tired, etc.... But I can go until almost bed time before I get a little hungry! Not too long to go now!!!! Good luck stay strong

Hello Janel129 and Bevy Boo,

My surgery is also on May 28, I have to be at the hospital at 0800 and surgery is at 1000. I am excited and nervous. When I started this liquid diet, I had some of the same side effects, hunger pains and headaches. Then a few days after that I was questioning, am I making the right choice because as I look at my schedule last night - basically no real food for about 2 months.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
