So I realized something now after surgery that I wished I realized waaaayyy before. When it comes to food I just want the flavor. If I would have realized this before I wouldn't have had to eat those 5 slices of pizza or the large McDonald's order. I noticed this about myself (and I know I shouldn't have :( ). But after surgery about 8 days out the family ordered pizza and boy did it look good! With the smell and look of it I felt hungry even tho I just got done what I could drink at the time. I had given in and taken a bite and as it was in my mouth it did taste amazing but I knew I shouldn't have it and spit it out. Afterward I wasn't hungry. Now I know it's not good to do that so that was the only time I done it since but has anyone gone through that or realized they want the taste not the actual food?

surgery: April 28th~~~current weight loss 20 pounds

It's very normal. I can actually handle anything now & for some odd reason rather have salad Soup & cafe. I guess I ate the unhealthy food for so many years & inside feel like damn! That soda got me fat all outside food at me fat & I just look at food differently. It doesn't mean I haven't had a few McDonald fries but if I have it on a day they didn't change there oil or I'm just sensitive in my tummy out it will go. I rather avoid it all together.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
