MAY 2013 POST-OP GROUP

Recommended Posts

I was the 13 of May also. Not doing real well. Can't keep much down. Going to Dr. on Tues. I've tired to b as careful as I can. I can't walk to much no energy & have to b close to the potty. Anyone had problems like this?

I had surgery on the 16. Getting my protien and Water in but nauseous a lot. Also very tired. Supposed to go back to work on Thursday, don't know if I will have enough energy... I had some bathroom issues, I took one Imodium ad and a couple spoonfuls of Greek yogurt, that helped.

I had my surgery on the May 28. I have had a little pain on my left side and it feels sore mostly when I try to bend down or move out the bed. I have noticed today that I have a weird taste in my mouth but I have dissolvable Listerine.

Hi tinyt

You surgery was the same day as me. How you finding it so far? The weird taste is strange, gargle with listerine, brush teeth and tongue but nothing seems to work and it just keeps coming back..... :-(

Sometimes I feel as though they didn't do anything while I was under as occasionally feel like raiding the cupboards and eat everything going, I haven't though so suppose that is a good thing! Not quite sure when I am hungry for real or I am just having cravings to chew something!, not had any nausea and can seem to keep everything down !

Wasn't expecting to feel hungry and now wondering if I will loose all my weight, wasn't expecting to feel like this only 6 days out........

I began to feel hungry a few days after surgery as well and wondered if something was wrong as well. But then I realized that, that is normal because our bodies have to get use to eating smaller amounts. For all of my life I have always over ate so that's what my body is use to. I'm 2wks out today and as of Friday I had lost 15lbs. So even though I've been hungry I've been trusting the process and so far its paying off but it has definitely not been easy. Good luck as your journey continues!

I had surgery on the 28th, so about one week out. Noticed today hunger reared it's ugly head. Wondered if it would be a passing sensation.

Hi! I'm new to this. But I need all the help I can get! I'm post-op. had my surgery on 5-6. So far I have lost 27lbs. Did anybody else lose the urgency to pee after surgery?!? I have. Went to the Dr today and now I have a UTI.

Yep having the urinary catheter and dehydration can do that. Can take a while for the nerves of the bladder to behave. The stretch receptors in the bladder kind of go to sleep. Drink drink drink

My first bout with hunger really surprised me. I had just finished a shake, so WTH? It eventually ironed itself out. I think it is just my body adjusting to the new plumbing in there. Good luck!

Had surgery on the 16 th and have had many ups and downs. Not feeling great today' date=' trying to think of what has improved since surgery. Last night I actually slept in my side! Very exciting since my back has been hurting a lot. Tried sleeping on my stomach but a dull pain kept me awake. But I will take the win of sleeping on my side![/quote']

I was excited to sleep on my side too! I had my surgery May 8, and I can sleep on my stomach! Take the wins when they come!

I know we are supposed to stay away from sugar and aspartame, but I have a sore throat. I need a cough drop that doesn't contain either. Does anyone know of one?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
