I actually started weighing myself after my first post op appointment with my surgeon, which was 10 days after surgery. I knew I would have gained weight from all the Iv's and stuff that I just waited.

As soon as I got home and every morning after that. Some people weigh once a week or only when the see the doctor... I weigh everyday ... It just works best for me.

I started 2 weeks after surgery. At first I was weighing myself every day or every couple days, but I don't want to get used to that and become obsessed with the scale, so now I only weigh myself on the weekend.

I had my surgery on a Thursday and weighed myself 2 Monday's after that Thursday. Now I weigh myself every week and keep a little graph of my weight loss. I have split up my graphs by the mini goald I set for myself. Like from my surgery (2/28) I wanted to lose a total of 40lbs by the end of April. So I made a chart that only went 40lbs out from the weight I was from surgery. I set another goal of 40lbs to lose by August...So my second chart goes up until August. Its nice to see progress on charts and stuff.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
