The weight loss is nice but I wish I could undo what's been done. Nothing could have prepared me mentally for this. I am 5weeks out.....

What's making you unhappy? The loss of food?

You'll be able to eat again sooner or later, just less and better choices. You'll be satisfied with less food. I'm sorry you have regrets and I hope it works out for you.

I do miss food. But I miss that refreshed feeling of drinking Water. I had some complications so that also contributes to my feelings.

But you should be able to drink Water again soon, right? I really do hope it gets better.

You are right on schedule. At 5 weeks I regretted my decision every meal.

Good news is:

This is normal

This will pass

You can make it through this

Bad news:

It gets a little worse before it gets better

We have all been there and make it through the other side. You can do it.

You will be able to drink Water again and then you will get tired of drinking only Water.< /p>

I've been worried about missing simple things like Water as well. I've read that it can take an hour to drink 6oz of water. Does this eventually get better? Meaning a year out, can a person drink 12oz of water fairly quickly?

From what I heard nearly everyone has buyers remorse at some point. But you have to remember that this cannot be undone, and that it is for the best that you keep going.

I'm almost 5 months out and things do get better. I can drink way more at a time than I could at your stage in this process. I will never drink with meals or at least 30 minutes after a meal though because I strongly believe this is a reason why people start to gain back weight. The liquid pushes food through the pouch and you get hungry again. I work with 2 other postops >4 years out and both drink with meals, graze all day, drink soda (diet and regular) and eat high carb foods and wonder why they put back on >50 lbs or never got to their goal. I just gave them my bigger clothes. You will adjust and be able to eat a better variety of food, just smaller amounts. You still have to be careful with the type of food you eat. I struggle with choices most days but use My Fitness Pal to help track my choices and to see where I could have improved my day. Back in December, I never imagined how good I would feel today so it does get better. Hang in there - you will be able to drink more Water in the near future.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
