I am 5 days pre-op. I'm strictly following the liver reduction diet. I have dropped nearly 35 lbs in less than 9 weeks.....

So why am I feeling sick tonight.... like sinuses and swollen glands, sore-ish throat??!! I thought I recall seeing some other posts made about getting sick before surgery too. IS THIS COMMON? Uggg I don't think I can take anything. I have to check my little manual to see if I can take something!

I'll flip if I am truely getting sick 5 days before surgery!

It's like I have a cold - with some brown phlegm (indicitive of an infection). It hasn;t full on hit me, but it's there.

I dont recall you posting in my other thread. Search it - its a thread for people having RNY on April 15-16-17. But join it if you would like.

***doing the countdown dance*** !!! :D :D :D

Don't go ahead without checking with doctor you need to get it checked and get an antibiotic. My surgery has been postponed due to the same and more symptoms. Your lungs must be clear before you proceed. You wanna make sure you breathe after the operation and recover well.

I actually woke up feeling much better (I also had a clear chest X-ray day before yesterday). I have a feeling my throat was reacting to the change in temp outside. It went from hot to cold in one day. This chubby girls body was not a fan. Lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
