I do not however I know a lady who does...she lost around 100 or so pounds ..she was pushing 400...she still struggles with her legs and the doctor said it will always be an issue..unfortunately for her when ppl find out she has had bypass they are shocked because she's still a larger lady...I must add however she really did not follow doctors orders and eat like she was supposed to, she probably would have lost down more than she did had she changed her lifestyle..She has a terrible time with her legs "leaking" Fluid and sometimes has to take off work due to the pain:/

Hopefully if you have this issue you will improve !

I'm an RN in wound care and hyperbarics. I have had a few of my patients with lymphedema that have gone through weight loss surgery. They did very well. Unfortunately the only good treatment for the lymphedema itself is compression....be it compression wraps, compression hose, or a lymphedema pump. I hope that helps some :)

I have lymphadema in my left leg. I hope to have bariatric surgery in the next few months. What I'm hoping to achieve is more flexibility, which will help with the bandaging.

You're such an inspiration!!! You had such a rocky start post-op and you're doing so great!! Lymphedema is a tough tough disorder but every bit of weight you get off will help plus the more you lose the more active you'll be, which again helps the lymphedema. Keep up the great work lady, so very proud of you!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
