Vitamins..in what order?

Recommended Posts

I started taking my chewable Vitamin 3 days post-op, I can begin tomorrow vitamin B12, Iron & Biotin. In what order should I take them daily?

I usually take my synthroid and Centrum chewable first thing in the morning.

Here is the regimen my nutritionist put me on:

8am - B-12 & Calcium

11am - Multivitamin

2pm - Calcium

5pm - Multivitamin

8am - calcium

Just make sure you take your calcium at least 2 hours away from your Iron (or multi that includes iron). Calcium blocks the absorption of Iron.< /p>

I take my thiamine, multi Vitamin and B-12 in the morning.

Then between 12-2 I take my chewable calicum with Vitamin D 500.

Then between 5-6 I take another multi Vitamin

Then at bedtime I take a chewable calicum citrate/vitamin d 500 again.

The most important thing is to wait 2-3 hours between Multi vitamin and Calcium due to absorption issues. Some people take calcium three to four times a day and this depends on the strength of calcium. I know calcium chews you need to take more of.

If i were taking Biotin or Iron I would take those in the morning right away but I am not taking either of those at this time.

The Vitamins I take are all inclusive for bariatric patients. I just add a scoop of powder to my Protein Shake in the am and I have my vitamins. Except for B12 and I take it in the am as well.

It is called new life bariatric. Takes the guess work out of everything!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
