Does anyone regret having the surgery. If you do why

Recommended Posts

I'm pre-op, my surgery is this upcoming Thursday. I've really done my homework and talked to LOTS of people who have had the surgery and I have yet to talk to a single person who regrets having it.

Hi all I partly regret having my gastric bypass op for two reasons 1 for my surgeon too make my stomach smaller than he legally should of done for my height he told me what he did after he did my op. the second is. That the NHS in the uk Have refused me twice by writing and 6 times verbally too have Tummy Tuck and too have my excess skin from my arms and legs too. I feel totally betrayed and let down by a medical service I should be be able too trust and rely on and clearly we cannot sadly its left me in greater pain than I did before my rny op with weight of the excess skin in front of me and weight everywhere else causing light sores now. I also only sleep 4 hours sleep if lucky if not that sometimes' date=' due too excess skin. I also have a severe form no feeling of hunger which most RNY patients suffer from at somepoint but sadly I have a severe form of it. I appeared on a major bbc documentary in the uk highlight obesity funding crisis regarding NHS 5 years ago I was phoned up by this bbc production team and I appeared on the show after appearing in my local paper as a few others did with a similar plight I did appear along side a gastric bypass grp with along side my bariatric surgeon who highlighted the probs we were facing at the time. Then I was inited along too the bariatric support grp and was made welcome at first then about month later the big boss of bariatric grp came from London and attracted the grp leaders for not getting her consent and permission but she did get help from some medication company too pay for weekend training meetings and for staying in hotels etc but she then said she got phoned by magazines ad papers whom wanted too help us but she cruelly declined too pass our details onto us too possibly help us then from that moment I never went back as I felt I was taken advantaged of by the RNY grp too more funding I think and for for that so called boss deny us help was some flaming low life in my opinion. My advice to other uk RNY patients going under NHS too have weightloss ops I would check and check again if your local NHS will do the reconstructive surgery or not if is the case if so I wld if you can get a loan and go private as I feel so let down sad and betrayed by a so called health service many patients should be able too trust and sadly we clearly cannot sadly I am now in the process of taking legal action agaist NHS for neglect of care and for the unless art suffering of pain and cruel refusal for surgery I need shame on David Cameron for not making me suffer making others suffer like myself suffer is cruel and inhumane my fear with so many legal cases against the NHS going on I can see NHS oing under and I hope it does as it is a poor substandard service and its a real lottery where u live and what medical service du can or can't get.

Daniel sorry for this experience but remember this was for u . Don't ever let that group leader dictate your joy and progress this is about you. Forgive your surgeon move on focus on the loosing. God will provide for the skin removal in due season. When you are calm and happy the universe brings all you need to you. You are alive be thankful. Wish you all the best.

Not regrets but I had heart trouble after surgery I went into a-fib el regular heart beat and high heart rate I asked my cardiac dr what I had dodos to myself we have a long history together in 2000 I had blood clots in my LAD one of my main valves and they put in 2 stents and a mild heart attack but have had no heart problems since then as he was walking out the door he stopped and turned and said it was the best thing I had done for myself even with these problems and not to worry everything will be fine and I really trust him

It's nice too hear some people have full faith in their doctors like you do I sadly liked many in the uk don't trust their doctors as many surgical and paperwork mistakes are more a common place than ever despite the uk gov subsidised health service constraints bariatric pre op ad aftercare I sadly say is really poor and refuse many like myself skin removal surgery so like many I am taking the NHS too court for neglect of of care and for the non necessary pain and suffering. On the subject of blood clots I had 3 of them prior my RNY op 2 in the leg and one on the lung that nearly killed me. In one as sect I am grateful for having RNY op in one way but regret in one way because of the un-nessary pain I am enduring because of the pain I am on opium based medications and I can't see a light at the end of the tunnel. But on a positive it's nice too hear positive stories like yours though I gives me hope in one day I will be as positive as you are I wish all the love and luck in the world. Tke care Dan UK. Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
