I am scheduled for surgery 3/14. I previously committed to attending a function 2 weeks after surgery. it will be a 6 hour drive and I will be there for about four days. I am traveling by vehicle and just wondering if anyone has traveled that soon after surgery? Any tips on traveling? I'm not worried about attending the function itself as I can rest in a room whenever needed. Plus I will have a refrigerator available for my use for Protein Drinks, etc. I am more worried about the drive itself. :/

Six hour is a long time in a car. I know I did two back to back four hour trips about two months out and I worn out afterwards. Also, be very careful getting in and out of the car. The twisting motion can pull at your wounds (Internal and external). Personally, I don't think I would do it but it each person after surgery is different. Wish you the best.

I started back work at 2 weeks post op and felt fine. I was tired that first week. Are you driving by yourself or with others? I think you'll have no problems, especially if you can take naps on the way. Good luck with surgery!

Thanks for the replies! I think I will be ok my husband is driving. I am just helping my parents out at a navy reunion.... So I can go rest at anytime. Planning on asking doctor ahead of time for extra pain pills for the ride! :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
