My mom was set on the band, then her doctor told her there were just not as many guarantees as with the RnY, so she changed her mind and is so glad she did. My doctor told me the RnY is the "gold standard" for gastric bypass surgery.

It see s there are many people who have Bariatric surgery in Mexico with a US trained surgeon in a US endorsed hospital. I think his name us Dr R Kelly. It is significantly cheaper. Might be worth a try if no other options

OMG I am so PO'd............just found out my insurance company covers a maximum total of 15K,,,,,,,,I can't afford the other 40+k...................I feel like crying

Your ins pays 15k in network coverage what about your out of network?

Do you have out of network coverage?

My ins cover WLS 10k max and the surgery cost 30k, but I have out of network coverage and it covers 20k so the surgeon is going to use both in network and out of network.

Don't give up, if you have to find another surgeon so be it. I had another one before I found my current one and they were charging me 20k and I was like What!!! I don't have that kind of money. I talked to my coworker and she told me that we have out of network coverage and for me to find another doc that Is will to work with me and my ins, and that what I did.

So don't give up there is always a way you just need to find it. .

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
