February 2007 Bandsters Unite!

Hey Astro - sorry your having some problems. We were done the same day. My incisisions all look great - healing very fast. No itch, no redness, no heat. When I shower, I am using that yellow antiseptic soap they gave me to clean all around the wound areas. I would say you might want to talk to a doc. I noticed Yasmina had an infection - so, take note. Let us know how you are.:)

I am feeling pretty good. Decide after a rough weekend to take another week off. Don't help that I hate my job. Tried scrambled eggs yesterday BIG mistake. Otherwise I feel okay. Have my FU with Dr Malley on Friday.

Ok guys tell me this,is it normal for incision area to be really itchy ...today it's been driving me to distraction, it's red in those areas too,my surgery was 7 days ago:help: .

Did they use steristips, because you may be allergic to them if they did. By the way Im DooneyJC and I will be banded Feb 20th, Im very very nervous and trying really hard to stick to the pre-op diet. You guys have a wonderful support forum here, I've been reading through lots of your post and have learned a great deal of information, thanks!:clap2:

Hey Becca glad you are back and that everything went so well. Enjoy your first cup of Soup. :hungry:

I still have a little gas to contend with but the one incision that was hurting is no longer a problem, but boy oh boy do I want to take off these strips they look so unclean.

Hay Everyone.... getting banded tomorrow (16ht) by Dr. Leung in Surrey, BC. 3 months from my 37th B-Day. I can't wait to see the difference 3 months will make. What can I say that you guys haven't already lived through? I'm nervous and excited all at the same time. Tyring not to think about the 30 day clear liquid diet I am going to have to stick to after surgery and most of all trying to keep my mind focused on work... and you can see how well that is going! tee hee! Had a dream last night that I went shopping one day after the surgery... *sigh*... if only!

Thank you to all who post on this site... its been a god send for me!! I will keep you updated on my journey with the lap band.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
