I was terrified and the beginning as well but I found the more I research and knew the good and the bad' date=' the better is it was. I had never even had a surgery before or been in the hospital so everything was new. I made it and so can you!! Never hesitate to reach out with a question or suporrt. This group has reeled me back in a few times. :-)

Thank you so much... When I went for my consult I mentioned this app to the surgeon and he was surprised on how well informed I was. You guys and ladies are AWESOME!

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield. My out of pocket max is 3000 and my deductible is 1500. I had to pay 3000 out of pocket prior to insurance stepping in. I paid the 3000 straight to the hospital the week before my surgery!! I completely misunderstood out of pocket max versus deductible.

I'm a little lost... You had to pay the whole 3000 or did you over pay... Although my Max out of pocket is 3500 the insurance will still pay 80 percent after I have spent 3500 they will pay at 100 percent

My out of pocket max had to be reached before insurance would pay 100% of anything billed. Although $1500 is my deductible, the surgery was roughly $46,000.00 just for the hospital. They (the hospital) were wise to the fact that the insurance would require my Out of Pocket Max to be reached before paying 100% of the bill...it didn't matter if they (BCBS) paid 80% or 90%...MY portion of that (20%) would have well exceeded the $1500 difference, so the hospital collected it up front. The max out of pocket ran concurrent with my deductible...in other words the $1500 deductible counted towards the Out of Pocket Max. Some insurance companies don't count it together. The hospital was going to be SURE they collected their monies FIRST.

That's awesome... Have you already met your deductible? I'm very happy for you.

No I haven't because its start of new year. Because facility and dr are in network ( we are open access plus state employee program) that's my only cost.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
