Possible to dump on pain meds?

Recommended Posts

I was a little cold and I was starting to hurt a little so I took a dose of my pain medication (hydrocodone with acetaminophen) and within like two minutes my face got flushed and my heart started beating more quickly and I got really hot like a hot flash. Now that I think of it it's been happening every time I take it. Could that be dumping? Or is it something different like related to the narcotic? It passes in like 10 minutes.

I think it is a reaction to the pain meds. I doubt it is dumping.

When I took the liquid pain meds I always got a rush feeling. Always call your doctor and let them know.

I learned the hard way that if you drink them too fast you can get the flush/rush feeling. Remember we are supposed to be sipping all liquids. I learned the hard way that you can not "down" the medicine anymore. After doing it like a shot 2 or 3 times I realized that I needed to sip the disgusting tasting medicine and it went much more smothly. I hope this helps.

Honestly I do sip it takes me like 10 minutes to drink it and it's less than 30 ml. I think it just messes with me but right now I'm nauseous from my Vitamins and they haven't been bothering me at all so I guess I'm just a weirdo. One day I'm crying hysterically but have no physical problems the next I seem fine emotionally but everything I take makes me feel ugh yucky....

There is no way it could be dumping from painkillers...there's no calories, fat, or sugar! Painkillers DO cause the type of side effects you described though if their is an intolerance. Maybe you could try sticking with straight Tylenol? Narcotics tend to produce some nasty side effects for some people.

I would call your doctor. About the symptoms and for the nausea with taking the Vitamins. Every doc is different, but my first week was nothing but drink your Water and if you feel up to it some Soup broth.< /p>

No problem! Maybe you are having a sensitivity to the painkillers. I would ask your doctor if you can take Tylenol instead, so you don't have to deal with the side effects of the painkillers :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
