Recommended Posts

Well went to surgeons office today to have my drain tube taken out...

Wow it was 3feet long held in with a suture

I had it in since last Tuesday when I had surgery

My husband said it was like watching clowns

Coming out of a clown car he kept pulling...

Can I say Ouch now that hurt!!!

Lost 14lbs since surgery can eat Full liquids

Now

Doing great stomach a little sore but I take one

Day at a time sweet Jesus ....

Hope everyone is doing good today

And as the seemingly mile-long tube was being removed, it bumped into various parts/organs that aren't used to being messed about. Creepy! Didn't hurt me so much as made me feel like crawling under the covers for a few days...

I had a JP drain like that for 10 days post-op. I hated it and it annoyed me the whole time, but the worst part was when it came out. I'm with you that it didn't really hurt, but it felt like there were snakes moving around in my belly!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
