Anyone go from sleeve to roux en y ?

Recommended Posts

I'm January 10th too and can't wait!

What made you change your mind? I have bad acid reflux and I was afraid it will get worse with the sleeve. I was also worried about not losing enough or gaining it back. The sleeve is new and the data isn't available like it is for the bypass.

Are you nervous? Where are you? What time is your surgery? I will be thinking of you.

Oh yes I'm nervous! Same reasons as you, but also that my approval is a dream and I won't actually get the surgery, or because of my hypothyroid I won't actually be able to lose anything. When researching I saw more sleeve info from Mexico surgeons than US; its also cheaper (which is why I think a lot of self pay people take it even further into consideration aside from the lack of malnutrition). But the ability to quickly or eventually eat or drink whatever I wanted even in small amount scared me. I like sweets too much and am praying that this tool will help me avoid them until I can get control of my eating habits. I'm having surgery in Sac, CA-not sure what time yet. How about you?

I will be having surgery in Dallas, Texas at 7:30 am. I'm excited but super nervous.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
