I had surgery yesterday. It went better than I expected; very little pain. The first day I could only have ice chips. Today is Clear Liquids. Tomorrow I can move on to full liquids. The thing is, I don't feel like eating. Hmmm I don't think I've ever said that before. One more hour and I make my escape.

Hey family and friends.... Sorry I haven't been on much I have been in the Critical Care Intensive Care Unit for 5 days I had to keep my breathing tube in for a couple of days because they couldnt risk me swelling up to much because I have server abdominal fragility everytime the would do a leeak test it would explode and that made my surgery appy from 2.5hrs to right at 7.5 hours but I had my most recent post op leak teast yeasterday and it's holding great :)

Sorry to hear of the problems you have been having. It's amazing how we are all doing so differently. It shows how we are all so unique. It helps to have everyone here for the moral support. Best Wishes for a speedier recovery!

Hi everyone ! So nice to hear everyone is ok ! I had my surgery on the fourth and so far so good ! I have had very little issues knock on wood ! Upper left rib cage pain was a bit painful but everyday it gets better !! A little scared that when I follow the full liquid diet everything is ok ! I guess I'm scared its goin too good and that why aren't I feeling sick like others when they eat ? Not like I want to feel sick but afraid if there's boundaries I will eventually fall back Into old patterns !

First night home from hospital..surgery was Wednesday 5th I have some pain under my rib cage that goes through my back...anyone have any sleeping tips for tonight. Does anyone think the sofa would be better than the bed

Tried recliner the first night, but then my back and bottom started hurting. Moved to our bed and did better there once I got comfortable. Problem was trying to get in and out of bed. Started in the bed last night but had problems with leakage (prior post) so tonight I am staying in the recliner where I can monitor any issues. Hope you can find an easy place to get comfortable. Haven't tried the sofa yet, Not sure it would work for me.

Sorry to hear of your complications. Glad you didn't play around with it & went right to the ER. Congrats on the weight loss!

Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

Thanks, quite frightening...it looked like I had gotten shot and left to bleed out (according to our son). Just being honest, sorry

Anyone scared to eat? I am scared to go full liquids bc I so badly want to lose weight. I afraid that if I have some Soup or sugar free pudding I won't lose weight. I guess partly bc I haven't lost anything yet. Today is day 4 post op and I've only had Water and Protein Drink.< /p>

Is it me or my pain speaking.... But no one not even the doctor spoke or even touched on how bad you feel after surgery and how tough the recuperation is?

I guess I am in denial about this I don't feel anything different other than the pain I am feeling under my rib cage. I know I should at least feel a little different right? I also have an incision that is completely infected and on powerful antibiotics. It just seems surreal I guess. Should I have had a BM by now?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
