Regrets And Second Guesses?

Recommended Posts

Hey Family,

So I have been feeling negative about my surgery for a little while now wondering if I made the right decisons and thinking about how long I have to eat like this, forever. I miss all the foods that I love so much and sometimes feel like I wish I didn't have this surgery so I could have them. Does or has anyone else felt this way? I feel so alone right now. I am sad :(

Your not alone but we can have all the bad food in the future but if we over do it then we will regain. Then it would had been a waste of time having surgery. I love food & always will but I feel so good slim that I rather shop then stuff my face.

Well that makes me feel a little better. I think if I had more food choices that were enjoyable this wouldn't be so hard but I am still in the purred kind of soft food stage. All I want is a burger even if it's only 2 bites and 5 fries I would be happy or at least I think I would. Hopefully when I can start eating anything I will eat healthy foods and be happy with that. Just not being able to choose from any foods get to me. Thanks for your support :)

Don't be down, sweetie. This surgery does not mean you won't be able to eat the foods you loved before. I eat stuff I love. I just do it in GREAT MODERATION. I used to loved Wendy's double burger. If I have a taste for a burger now, I eat a jr burger with or without the bun. And it only happens like once a month if then. Don't get so caught up on what you can't have. I thought I would never eat candy, sugar, cake, Cookies, fried food again. But I have and I had no problem. But I don't get out of hand when I indulge. It's all about having will power, know what your pouch can/can't handle, and knowing when to stop. I don't dump, so stop after one-three bites if I'm indulging.

Your affair with food is over sweetie you need to focus on other things. I am 7 months post op and just starting to eat normal now. If I crave something I only have a bite or two, and the key is MODERATION and this surgery is just a tool to help you get on a healty eating habit and to exercise !!! Once the pounds start to melt away and your lookin' real good you say bye-bye to the food because you feel soooooo much better without the extra weight. I think you grieving now but it does pass, you need to focus on exercise and healthy eating, you need to work with the surgery not against it or it will never work. Please don't put yourself thru all this then regain, it would be such a loss. I will take being thin and feeling awsome over food any day !!!

Theby that us a worry I have and I'm still Pre op. I think it has to be normal. Any of us wouldn't need this tool if we didn't love food. I imagine feeling like doodle soon and finding that being fit will mean more than the enjoyment of overindulging. I think being only recently post op there may still be hormones making you feel bad too. I've read many posts saying it is quite an emotional journey for a bit. Do your best to look for your silver lining.

Thank you everyone. I know this is going to be a long journey and it's going to be a fight it's just getting to the point where the fight is all worth it. I know it can only get better and go up from here. Like I said I think once I can start eating more solid foods and I can get all my Protein in and start really losing weight I will fee a lot better about everything. I have had trouble getting all my protein in cause I have been neauseous so I haven't been losing that much weight recently but I am working on it. Thank you all again and I really appreciate all your guys' support and comments. :)

Yeah I think I will feel the same once the weight really starts coming off and I really start noticing it. I haven't been losing much because I am not able to get all my Protein in and I have been really neauseous so I haven't wanted to eat much. I am doing better but still need to get all my protein in.

Well knowing I can eat all the foods I love again does make it a little better, even if it is in monderation which I don't mind. I might find that when I taste these foods I might not enjoy them anymore but until that day I get to try it I won't know. I hope that happens that would be amazing. And I am not wanting to eat a huge burger and a large fry with a milkshake or anything. It's just emjoying the food I eat that I miss I think. I believe that being a single mother everything in my life is a responibility or a duty and the only reward that I have time to give myself is food cause you got to eat. I really believe that is why I turned to food for happiness. What else can you do while in the car driving to your next stop or sitting at your desk at work while getting the rest of your work done and enjoy it. Nothing really but eating. You get what I am saying. Food was my pleasure of choice that was convienent for me and do-able. Soooo it's hard to let that go even if it is for 1 month or 6 months. Even for 2 weeks it's hard when you lived it for so long.

I know how you feel I can't even enjoy food anymore cuz a bite and I'm full it's like what's even the point. But me liking to eat to much food is what got me into this mess so I think it's kinda for the best.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
