Let's Talk Constipation!

I've tried it all from laxatives, prunes, prune juice, sliced apples, stool softener, enema, suppositories and Miralax. None of these consistently helps. I even drink some Chinese herbal tea concoction perscribed by a Chinese herbal doctor. I also eat somewhere around 30grams of Fiber daily but the best results have been with the tea every other day and miralax on the day between. I read someone took miralax twice daily--is that an ok thing??? I was taking it daily and it stopped working as well after a month. I've been a little concrned about dependency so started every other day alternating with the tea. What are your docs saying about miralax??

That's what stool softner I used and it seemed to work great. I haven't taken it in a few days and everything has been better. I still don't go number 2 very often. Like every 3 days or so. Are you drinking a lot of Water?

I wasn't at first but I'm doing better now.

I just had my surgery 5 days ago and I'm super stopped up. What can I take this early after post-op? I'm miserable!

Hey look through this pot and you will see what we've all tried, good luck cause I know ow you feel. The ducolax worked the best for me in the end, but I had to take three. That is a amount recommended.

get some miralax start taking that and I us to use suppositories as well 4 days post op. I feel if my surgeon required the bowel prep prior to surgery I wouldn't have suffered so bad with this right after surgery

i hate colace with a passion. it seriously has the worst taste and makes my throat sore for hours after taking it. I just started mixing miralax in to my drinks hopefully it helps.

For some reason Miralax did not work or me. I was mixing it in a small 100% apple juice box. Glad all that is finally over :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
