Recommended Posts

Today I'm 9 days post op only 4more days on liquids then i can start soft foods!! But does 4days really make that much of a difference?? I feel great and i haven't felt hungry I'm getting my Protein in but when it comes to dinner with my kids and a hot meal ohhhhhhh how i miss that :-( i got my son a plain chicken sandwich today from wendys and because we forgot to ask for BBQ Sauce he didn't feel like eating it so he turns to me and says you want this? I was like omg why would you say that you know i can't eat!! Then we both laughed. I could go for a baked potato only about half if that! Lol ok that was my rant i feel better now.

Omg i feel like I'm so close to being out of liquid hell but not there yet! I keep saying I'll be fine if i eat something small but i can't bring myself to do it. Just made one of my kids a personal pepperoni pizza homemade! And boy do i miss those. I'm back in my room (my cave) with sipping my muscle milk lol

I did try a little bit of baked potato. My husband and I were out in town and he was hungry. I literally took a spoonful of a baked potato and asked for some hot Water so I could thin it out. It settled OK. Also, chick-fil-a has a REALLY good Soup, ask for mostly broth. They also have diet lemonade that's really good! The baked potato was about a week post-op...

Me too but that's just because I can't keep liquid Protein down anymore, I hate broth (chicken), and I can't stand Jello.

By the way, tomorrow is 7 day out.

You guys got this. If your doctor says not to move on to the soft stage until a certain date then dont do it. You are still healing inside there and you dont want to comprimise the healing process. The mind makes you feel like you want realy food but when you eventually get it you wont be able to eat very much. Try finding something now to turn your addiction to food from. It will help you in the long run.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
