How Had Surgery Effected Your Periods?

Recommended Posts

I'm curios to know how the surgery had effected your period. Mine were very heavy for 2 years after having my tubes tied. I had a uterine oblation 5days before gastric bypass. My Dr told me i would either never get it again or it would be very light. I'm now 4days post op and approaching my normal cycle time and I'm wondering if gastric bypass may cause it to come...

I'm 6 months out and to be honest the first few months were awful for me. It was heavy, lasted almost 2 weeks at a time, and even came twice a month for 2 months! And I was on the pill so that upset me even more. But I guess it was all hormonal because for the past two months it's been normal and comes when it's supposed to.

Mine was heavy and lasted 2 Weeks before the oblation. I'm not looking forward to ever seeing it again but I've read on here it's not normal after surgery kinda worried it might come back.

I was suppose to get mine the day of my surgery and didn't. I didn't get it again until a month and a half later. Seems it's coming every 4 weeks again now. Prior to it was a bit sporadic to the point where my doctor tested me for menopause.

Mine were heavy in the 2 years after my tubal ligation too....now I'm 11 months post op RNY, and it is only heavy the first 2 days, then it's light. Pre op I would go for 7-8 days, but now post op I go for 4-5 days!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
