Have To Lose A Little...

Recommended Posts

I have to get down to my initial consultation weight. I'm only up four pounds (which I consider nominal) but my surgeon won't operate if I am still up. Should I take an appetite suppressant to help for the next couple weeks?

Sunshine I am struggling with this as well. And it is really hard trying to get this 7 pounds off. Which I gained literally in one month when I quit smoking in July. I have lost 3.2 pounds of it so far but it has taken 3 weeks to do it so far. You may just need to up your exercise a little each day to help

I may not be giving the best advise here but if it was me I would be doing anything to loose those pounds to have surgery, if it means taking a appetite suppresant then so be it. I was suppose to quit smoking 2 wks before my surgery, I knew there was no way I could do that being very nervous about surgery so I smoked up until the night before, my last smoke was at 10 pm then I was done with smoking. Why torture yourself !!! But my promise to my self was you can smoke up until surgery day after that you are done - and I have stuck to my deal. I was lucky that I did not have to diet before surgery at all. Can you go on those crazy crash diets like a week before you weigh in ???

BB I had 2 weeks prior to surgery as well. I chose to quit earlier in case I had a hard time with it. Not really understanding the weight gain that comes with it I wish I would have waited but I've come to far to start back for a couple months to just quit again.

Bbdoodle, I can...and I even thought about just fasting for two days before the liquid diet...I wouldn't want Phentermine to interrupt anything for surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
