Recommended Posts

My Dr just told me i don't have gallstones but there is a lot of sludge in my gallbladder. Its not my surgeon as i am in the hospital again only this time its in the town where i live and my surgeon is over an hour away so i havnt seen him. My.question is i get really nautious after i eat. No pain just nausea. Could the sludge cause this?

Are you seeing a gastrointerologist (sp?) I had a really bad gall bladder attack about 7 wks RNY post op and 3 wks after that I was back under the knife getting my gall bladder removed. My RNY surgeon did the surgery so he had all my history and went in the same incisions as the RYN to keep the scars to a minimum. I did not feel any nausea just really bad pain... like I was having a heart attack = really scary. I never heard of sludge in the GB thou !!!

I too had sludge in my gallbladder. I just had surgery yesterday, 09/21, to have my gallbladder removed. My same RNY surgeon did my second surgery. When she went in, my gallbladder was inflamed. It was an outpatient surgery, I would have liked to stay in hospital because this is more painful than the gastric bypass.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
