Is Protein a big part of losing the weight fast? I'm barely getting any in... I've lost 12lbs since surgery on 8/8/12

I start the day with 1-2 full scoops of Syntrax Nectar whey Protein isolate (chocolate) mixed with 1-1 1/2 cups of lactose free milk. Thats 40gr alone!!! Then i try to get some chicken, greek yogurt, or a Protein Bar in throughout the day.

costco has ready to drink Protein drinks (premier protein) that are really good. They are 30 grAms of Protein and 160 calories. If you drink 2 of them a day' date=' you'll only need 5 more grams from something else like cheese or eggs. The scooped Proteins can be gross![/quote']

True. I'm the opposite. I can't stand the premixed ones.

Your doctor should be guiding you on what he/she wants you to be eating and what suppliments they want you to take. My dr. requires a minimum of 64 grams of protien daily and min. 64 oz. Water. I get in about 80 grams of Protein, 65 gr. from a Protein Shake and the remainder from cottage cheese and yogurt, chicken, Beans etc. If you do not get enough protein you will loose hair !! That was enough to keep me focused on my protein.

I could not stand the powder Protein drinks or any drinks for awhile. But someone suggested I add a banana and/or other fruit (I use banana and forzen strawberries which work like ice) and use almond milk or Silk instead of Water and it tastes tons better. Do not get me wrong, they still are not great and someday I can barely gag them down, but before I could not gag them down, so it is am improvement. So I do one shake in the morning (25 G Protein since I do only one scoop and 8 oz liquid so less to drink) then I eat protein at every meal and if needed both Snacks. I am almost 3 months out and was able to start increasing my food around 2 months which broke my 3 week stall and being regularly losing since, about 3 pounds a week average.

Just experiment and force yourself gag down the one you can handle the best. I now can tolerate the premixed ones, but they are too expensive to drink except for once in awhile when I am in a hurry in the morning or run out of bananas like today.

Did your stall break when you increased calories? I've been stalled two weeks and get around 800 calories on average. Dr office encourages 800-1000 but I have trouble getting that.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
