I'm eating everything too.....and my last meal will be at "Golden Corral"! So I can have all my favorites! I will miss food but I know my life will be SO much better after surgery! I'm breaking up with unhealthy living and never looking back!!!

I told my husband that I wanted a "last meal" before I started this pre op diet I'm on and he said to me " that's your problem. Your last meal should've been yesterday and you're not realizing that." that hit home for me. All my foods got me to this spot that I'm in today and it needs to stop today!! I have to realize that I can't keep cheating at this cuz I'm the only one losing from it. My approval is now delayed because I quit dieting and didn't lose any weight. When's enough?? I'm having a hard time justifying any kind of cheating or eating once I can again. food has a huge grip on most of us in this position and that's where the mental part of this comes into play. Maybe I'll need to see a shrink or something down the road but I need to get healthy. Try and remember your goal which is surgery and they can deny you if you haven't lost enough weight.

I've heard of a lot people having a bucket lit and last meal and so forth. I'm not trying to offend anyone by any means but for most of us we are here because of those foods! I do not have a bucket list or a last meal. I have fought with my insurance for over three years and now have decided to self pay. I am embracing this tool and do not want to do anything to distract me from my goal. I know there are things I will more than likely never be able to eat gain but then again, I chose this. Just wanted to give my two cents ;) good luck everyone!

It was the hardest things giving up foods you can not have again, or at least the amount I use to eat them in. I am 3 months out and just saw the nutritionist and she said I can start eating small portions of carbs, bread, vegetables and fruit. I am a little excited but scared because I do not want to gain the weight back.

I didn't mean anything by my post. It was just my personal experience and I wish the best for everyone here. I just had a hard time realizing that a lot of my last foods had already happened. Good luck to everyone and I hope I get some lasts still before my surgery.

I had a small bucket list of foods I loved...and a very delicious non healthy last meal. It was my way of saying goodbye to my old life.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
