Momentary Lapse Of Reason (Paying For My Sins)

Recommended Posts

I did it. I ate 1) solid food too soon and 2) Too much of said solid food now I feel like my pouch is going to explode while I dump from both ends. For all my education, for all my knowledge, for ALL my common sense I did the ONE damn thing I wasn't supposed to and now I am paying dearly. -1000 points for Sheer Stupidity!!

(what, might you ask, could be SO tempting as to risk my physical health?? chicken souvlaki on pita with titziki and tomatoes.)

sigh - i've been craving a gyro for weeks now so i can kinda feel your pain. i know that one bite won't be enough so i won't get one. i did over do it with tomatoes the other day and felt full and acidic for the rest of the day.

consider it lesson learned - you won't do that again!

Ahh :( hope you start to feel better soon.

I actually feel fine, I think it was the drink of Water that did it :( although I do feel more pain in my major left incision...

I ate one piece of the chicken with Tomato and pita, pretty much a normal pre-op bite but now what imagine the full size of my pouch post-op. I chewed it to high heaven but then I absent mindedly took a big sip of Water...and that us what did me in. I only threw up the Water, but have fairly bad pain on my left side now :(

(technically I am still supposed to be on purée until thurs-another 3days till soft can start)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
