I have done about half my pre op requirements

Psychiatric evaluation - check

EGD / colonoscopy - check

sleep study- check

Cardiology clearence- check

GI consult- check

Pre op education program - 1 class to go

Final doctor appointment

Final two dietician meetings

Official insurance clearence

Chest X-ray

EKG

Blood work

** these must be done within 30 days of surgery**

Appointment with IVC filter doctor

IVC filter placed 3 days before surgery

Pick up incentive spirometer and surgery bag

Ohhhhh Lordy!!! Is my turn tomorrow. Overwhelmed this morning because my oldest daughter Dad was killed on September 11 and she's at the ceremony as we speak and she thinks I'm going to die too.

Ramona- i have tried a couple protien drinks and I like unjury all the flavors vanilla strawberry and choc. I mix half a scoop of strawberry witht he scoop or scoop and a half of choc for an awesome shake. I have seen people recommend limited purchases because our taste buds change after surgery. so get a few to try but don;t invest in big quantities until after. I also tried banana myfusion and that was very good.

I see you are a RN in the and L&D ? so it has to be..lol, i worked in the ER for 4 years, oh boy... they are in for a treat, when i go in for surgery, I told the Dr, please place the foley after im a sleep and call up to L&D for some Lidojet for when you take it out, I also want a fill and flow, before they remove it as i DO NOT want to go into urinary retention.. god help me..(also did 4 years in urology). thanks for cheering everyone on as they go to and come out of surgery..

Sorry for the late response but yes i have 2 staples at each incision. I get them out on the 13th so 9 days post op. Im 1 week post op today weighed myself yesterday im down 15 pounds. Since i left the hospital. Woo hoo!!

Has anybody found a protein shake that they really like? I've only tried carnations instant and it was pretty good but I wanted to try others. Thanks

My Mom went to the GNC store and brought a TOTAL LEAN SHAKE vanilla bean flavor. It has a fantastic taste. It has 25 grams of protein. To me it tastes like an ice cream shake.

Thanks, your words are so kind..your husband is an Angel. My daughter was only 8 when it happened. I hated the phone calls when they kept finding his remains. Each call was a healed wound opened all over again.I want this depressing day to be over and start a new one tomorrow.

The hospital gonna call me at 3pm today for the time tomorrow. I'm telling my kid to stay off the phone.

I'm grew up in Manhattan. My brother went through the World Trade Center almost every day to work. I can't imagine having been there that day...

So guys I had my surgery yesterday. I felt horrible all yesterday. I could barely breath because of the gas. I woke up everytime I needed pain meds. My meds made me nauseous so they had to switch them. I couldn't eat ice or water or take gas x till my nausea was under control. This morning I was still full of gas but I was able to get nausea under control. So I had some water and gas x yay! I have a gi drain that isn't fun. But all in all I'm doing so much better. I got my cath removed and was able to walk a little. I hope all of you stay blessed and have good health. Ill be praying for us all.
