  1. My surgery was unsucessful...I was admitted at 8:30 am in the morning and ready for 9:30 am. The surgeon made 6 incision outside my stomach area and inserted the larpoc. equipment with air. Then they had to abort the srugery because my heart became weak and my heart rate was so low. My blood pressure went down to 70/40. They pulled the plug and the next thing I knew my surgeon was in the recovery room and told me that he almost lost me because of my heart and pressure. I was devastated and I started to cry. I don't understand why this happened to me? My Cardiologist told me that I was fit to do this surgery and he cleared me. After that they kept me in the hospital for evaluation. They ran some tests on me. They took many blood drawing, a heart cat scan, and 2D echo. All came out negative. Even though the procedure wasn't done I was in pain and haven't eaten for 3 three days. Today they discharge me and I have mild gatric pain. The doctor said to me to schedule an appointment for Monday to discuss my condition and to reschdule my surgery. I'am so hurt and tramatized I don't know what to do now. I guess it was bad luck for me. I'm home know and I'm still crying. I can't believe I had a brush with death.
  2. Thanks Jenn! After feeling so sad I was happy to see him and thank him.
  3. I went to see my cardiologist on the 10th and he ordered a 24 hour holter monitor that they put on me and to draw bloods again because my cholesterol and diabetes was high. Then I saw my surgeon on the 11th. When he saw me he gave me a hug and kiss and said to me that he pulled me from heaven. I wanted to cry. He said I can do this. He's glad I lost more weight. He said he wants me to lose more weight and to come back within' 2-3 months. He said he wants me to fit and strong. He said to keep following up with the nutritionist and still follow the diet. He was on vacation last week at the Dominican Republic on a conference of the RNY with other surgeons around the world. He said he sat next to a top surgeon from Chile and he was telling a story of a patient he almost lost and the same thing that happened to me. He said he was thinking of me the whole time and know I wasn't the only one this happened to. But thank God he saved my life. Looking forward to start over again...
  4. Two weeks ago I finally got all my medical data and medical clearance all together after almost a year to the insurance company. My insurance approved me within' 4 business days. When my surgeon office called me I was excited and overwhelmed with the news. They said they were going to send me a letter. Last Friday I received the letter and it read that my surgery date is September 12. On Tuesday got a call from the hospital asking me to come in for pre testing. I asked them if I could go on Thursday the 6th because my job keep denying my days off. Finally I did everything and all I could do is think and dream about the sugery. I told my job (not ask or request) that I'am taking off for surgery and I got the forms from the human resource dept. for a medical leave and I dropped the forms at the doctors office. My family are so excited and they are even following my pre op diet also. They are so supportive! They said they are going to lose weight with me too! Yesterday was my last day of work and my co worker gave me this prayer for my sugery. I want to share it also for the others on this board that are having the surgery too... PRAYERS FOR THE HEALING WHEN A LOVED ONE IS ILL God, my loved one is ill. I ask for your healing power to come upon them. You give us life and you have the power to renew life. I believe in your power to heal. Open my loved one to whatever form your healing power takes. And help me remember that, no matter what happens, you are the same yesterday, today, and forever. You are always with us. Amen. With God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26) FOR MY DOCTOR Thank you God, for my doctor. Thank you for his/her skills and training. Give her the insight he/she needs to diagnose my illness and determine the right treatment. Steady his/her hand and give his/her the power to heal in your name. Amen. And all who touched him were healed. (Mark 6:56)
  5. I'm fine thank you for asking. I just returned to work on Tuesday and I still feel a discomfort on my upper abdomen area. I seen the cardiologist last week and he ran more tests on me and I'm going to see him on the 10th. On the 11th I'm going to see the surgeon again. I still can't believe what happened to me. Some people really think I did the surgey because I lost some weight. This time I'm not going to say nothing to anybody and just do the surgery. I' m only going to tell u and everybody else here in this forum. But will definitely keep you posted :-)
  6. My doctor is on vacation and I was seen by another doctor who removed my staples. He suggested that I see the pulmonary and cardiologist specialist so they can give me another clearance. He said to make sure before all my other testings will expire. Everything has to be done within' 6 months to a year. I saw the Pulmonary doctor on Saturday and he said to me that what happened to me has nothing to do with my lungs. He said I'am perfectly fit for the surgery. Then I saw the Cardiologist dr ( a new doctor because I refused to go back to the other cardiologist who cleared me without a recent stress test) on Monday and he took my bloods, ekg, 2 d echo, and a breathing test. He asked me to get the my medical records with all the labs and testings the hospital did to me when I was admitted. He explained to me that what happened was that there are two different anesthesias that can jump the heart rate high or lower it. When doing the gastric bypass the doctor has to inflate air to your stomach area because a camera and tools has to go in the incisions for him to work and see the procedure. Once the air is blown in that is when the anesthesia made my heart rate drop. He asked me if I thought about doing the lap band or sleeve. He said the lap band is reversible not the gastric bypass. I said doctor I feel strange thinking to have a foreign object in my stomach and at least with other one I don't want to look back or change nothing. I just want to be healthy again. So I have to return to him in 2 weeks and I go back to work on Monday. Well at least I lost some more weight :-) I was 278 lbs and on surgery day I was 265. Now I'm 260 lbs. I'm going to keep going and hope things work out well. I will keep posting :-) God bless u all.

  9. I'm was depressed until my cousin came over and I was happy for her because we went together to help her find a car. She picked out a Jeep Cherokee. We had fun. Otherwise feeling better thank you for asking.
  10. Yes my doctor is great. I'd go back to him anytime because he has good hands, especially for saving me. I was so depressed and reading your post and the others made feel better. Thank you for being so kind :-)
  11. Great words of inspiration! Thank you. I was feeling so depressed.
  12. Thanks Anume. Only 2 c-sections with my 2 kids on 1993 and 2000. The cardiologist keept asking how many flight of stairs I can go up and how many blocks I can walk. I had 1 Liposuction in 2003.
  13. Very sweet of you...thank you. Right now I'm feeling better but I don't think I could go back to work this week. I tried driving today and every time I hit a pot hole I feel like my stomach is going to blow open. I'm having ear aches and I'am so depressed. I can't even eat or sleep. I have an appointment this week with the doctor to discuss what happened that day. It wasn't meant to be. But I will keep on board and I will keep posting :-)

Thanks Lydia. Just wishing you a safe recovery and you inspire me :-)
  15. TY Milan. My family from Puerto Rico was crying for me. I told them to keep the faith in me and to send me their prayers. I've been so sore all day because the hospital kept me for those extra 2 days and the nurses kept giving me Heparin injections for the blood clots. Is incredible how I look myself in the mirror to see those 6 incisions closed up with those staples and the surgery was never done. Is scary to think I could of not been here today.
