Any December Surgeries Out There?

Recommended Posts

I'm pre-op and got stuck having to do the 6 month weigh-ins, which I'll complete in December and am hoping to have surgery before Christmas!

I was able to do a lot of the pre-op testing (it was a lot) fairly quicker than average because I'm a student and have the summer off. Most days I feel like December will never get here quickly, on other days, I feel the time will fly. I just can't imagine getting any bigger (which has been difficult) between now and December.

My sister just had the vertical sleeve surgery. We've always been obese together and centered our lives around food and eating out at new places. She's now down 28 lbs 3 weeks post-op and while I'm happy for her, I only wish it were my time too :(

So who's excited and ready for December? :)

It's not official yet but I am hoping for December. I spoke with our insurance liaison and she said that was doable. The sooner the better for me. I hear you. I've gained five pounds in the past month waiting for my first appointment. My eating plan starts on the 14th so I've been morning food now. Ugh!

My BF had surgery last January and is down 110. She looks fantastic but it's so hard to be not jealous. I wish it was me but I am sooo happy for her. We can do this. :-).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
